How they can even look at themselves in the mirror is beyond me. It isn\u2019t just the landlords; it is NYCHA, too. I have heard the tales first hand. My heart goes out to every one of these tenants. Unacceptable.<\/p>\n<p>Why do the violations continue to pile up? In France, the state would begin withdrawing cash from their bank accounts. Why aren\u2019t these landlords hit with jail time and fines that are so exorbitant that they would have to sell their properties to pay for it?  <\/p>\n<p>This behavior has been playing itself out in NYC forever, and what I do not understand is why does it continue. There must be accountability.
