I\u2019m ready to advance President Trump\u2019s agenda for safety and innovation in transportation. Thank you to Justice Thomas for administering the oath and spending time with our family.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-1\"\/>\n<p>Duffy cleared the final hurdle to become the 20th <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerotime.aero\/tag\/dot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Secretary of Transportation<\/a> following a Senate vote where his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_votes\/vote1191\/vote_119_1_00021.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">nomination was approved 72 to 22<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On January 22, 2025, Duffy received the backing of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, to lead the DOT in a unanimous Airlines incident on January 5, 2024, when a door plug separated from a plane midflight.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-2\"\/>\n<p>The aviation industry awaits to see Duffy\u2019s approach towards the industry and whether he will continue the previous administration\u2019s battle with US airlines over \u201cjunk fees\u201d but it seems unlikely.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am deeply honored by the trust placed in me by President Trump to lead this important Department and for the Senate in swiftly confirming my nomination.
