{"id":53658,"date":"2025-01-28T17:21:35","date_gmt":"2025-01-28T17:21:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/business\/legal\/coverage-counts-for-corporate-counsel\/"},"modified":"2025-01-28T17:21:35","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T17:21:35","slug":"coverage-counts-for-corporate-counsel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=53658","title":{"rendered":"Coverage Counts for Corporate Counsel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>In this interview with Corporate Counsel Business Journal, Lilit Asadourian, co-chair of the insurance recovery and counseling practice at Barnes &amp; Thornburg, discusses insurance coverage that in-house counsel should understand and shares best practices for your company\u2019s insurance assets.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-3876\"\/><\/p>\n<p>At the top of her list is understanding just who owns coverage at your company. \u201cInsurance policies are typically not procured by the corporate legal department,\u201d she says. \u201cThey\u2019re probably being procured by either somebody in the CFO\u2019s office or, for larger organizations, in the risk management department.\u201d That makes communication vital to assure policies align with the company\u2019s risk profile. If insurance makes your head hurt, listen to Asadourian. \u201cA company\u2019s insurance program should include three or four very basic policies,\u201d she says. \u201cThere should be a commercial general liability policy and a commercial property policy, particularly if you have brick-and-mortar locations or you have inventory, etc. And then a D&amp;O policy.
