There is an obituary at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/01\/14\/books\/mary-catherine-bateson-dead.html\">New York Times<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amherst.edu\/news\/memoriam\/node\/788856\">Amherst<\/a>, and other locations. She is famous for viewing human lives as works of art and urged that we live and analyze them as such. Krista Tippet\u2019s <em>On Being <\/em>has <a href=\"https:\/\/onbeing.org\/programs\/mary-catherine-bateson-living-as-an-improvisational-art\/\">a valuable interview<\/a> with Bateson about this work. For anthropologists such as myself, she is famous for being the daughter and biographer of Margaret Mead and Gregory Bateson.
