Corgis are adorable dogs with their short legs, perky ears, and cuddly nature<\/strong>. They are great companions as they are highly intelligent, devoted, and loyal.<\/p>\n

They always want to be included and love to be the center of attention. Though playful and lovable, Corgis are great watchdogs and are devoted to their family. <\/strong>They are very loyal, affectionate, and eager to please.<\/p>\n

There are two types of Corgis, Pembroke Welsh Corgi and Cardigan Welsh Corgi. They are considered to be two different breeds because they come from different ancestors but have a lot of similarities due to crossbreeding.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Corgi\"Corgi<\/figure>\n

The difference between the two is that the Pembroke Welsh Corgi has either a small tail or none at all while the Cardigan Welsh Corgi has a long tail. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Another difference is that Cardigan Welsh Corgis have long and rounded ears at the tips while Pembroke Welsh Corgis have shorter, pointy ears.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Regardless of the type of Corgi, they are cute, cheerful, energetic, and fun to live with. With their small size, Corgis works well in apartments and can be good apartment dogs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although you do have to consider the rules and regulations of your apartment regarding bringing pets into the building. They are watchful dogs so if you have a window with a view of the street, that would be perfect for Corgis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Life Span<\/h2>\n

\u00a0The Corgi\u2019s average life span is 12 to 15 years.<\/p>\n

Corgis are small and adorable even when they become adults.<\/strong> The height of Corgis is around 10 to 12 inches on average with male Corgis having a weight of 22 to 30 pounds and females at 20 to 28 pounds.<\/p>\n

Grooming<\/h2>\n

These cute, short-legged pups are very clean dogs. <\/strong>They have a short, plush, weatherproof double coat. They are low maintenance and are easy to groom with regular brushing and combing.<\/p>\n

They do shed a lot on a daily basis so you would need to brush them daily to remove and control the shedding of their hair and to prevent having a messy apartment. Give these Corgis proper nutrition to control excessive shedding.<\/p>\n

Sociability<\/h2>\n

Corgis are great with other dogs, children, and people so they are easy to have in your apartment complex. <\/strong>Corgis are good with children, especially if they are raised and socialized with children while they are growing up.<\/p>\n

They are also friendly so it is easy to live with them if you have roommates or if you have regular visitors in your place. But sometimes, Corgis can be territorial and reserved with strangers.<\/p>\n

Barking<\/h2>\n

Pembroke Welsh Corgis like to bark and are a little more energetic and excitable than their cousin, the Cardigan Welsh Corgis. They bark when they are left alone for long periods of time or when they are playing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Corgis barks if they see or hear anything out of the ordinary or something they consider a threat. <\/strong>They are protective dogs and are always alert. Corgis often bark a lot and could be a problem when not controlled at an early age.<\/p>\n

But they do respond well to obedience training so you can train them and make them social at an early age. This will help your Corgi learn to trust strangers and other animals and not to bark all the time when they are being approached.<\/p>\n

You can train your Corgi to limit their barking as they are easy to train<\/strong>. With proper training and exercise, the barking of Corgis can be diminished, although not disappear completely.<\/p>\n

Exercise and Activity<\/h2>\n

As Corgis are intelligent and energetic, they need to be active every day. They are high-energy dogs and they need regular physical and mental stimulation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

They need lots of exercise to stay healthy and happy so create a daily exercise and playtime routine with these adorable pups. Corgis are athletic dogs that love physical activities and enjoy spending time outdoors.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Take them on long, energetic walks around the block, they will love it. Bring them to dog parks or any fenced, grassy outdoor space where they can walk, play and run.<\/p>\n

It would be great for you and your Corgi if your apartment is near these areas. Corgis between 6 to 18 months need more activities as they have more energy.<\/p>\n

When you\u2019re at work, leave some toys which are entertaining and engaging for your Corgi to play with such as puzzle toys to keep them mentally stimulated. <\/strong>They often get bored easily and could somehow develop destructive behaviors when left alone.<\/p>\n

They tend to develop negative behaviors like chewing, barking and howling when they get bored and run out of things to do. They find ways to entertain themselves so it\u2019s important to always stimulate them with activities especially when they are left alone.<\/p>\n

When leaving Corgis alone, having their required exercise can help them feel relaxed and stay calm for a few hours. Corgis can be good apartment dogs and they will be fine when they get their daily exercise and playtime<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Trainability<\/h2>\n

Socialization and training are highly recommended for Corgis. <\/strong>They are easy and fun to train with since they are <\/strong>smart and they love to please. <\/strong>They are responsive, they learn easily, and are enthusiastic to work.<\/p>\n

They easily learn obedience training and it is suggested to give them more advanced training. Create a training session with them to keep them physically and mentally active.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If not properly trained, they tend to impose their own rules as they are strong-willed, independent, and stubborn. So sometimes training them can be frustrating.<\/p>\n

Being patient with them and implementing positive reinforcements lead to good results.<\/strong> Positive and reward-based training is great for Corgis and will bring out the best in them.<\/p>\n

Corgis will definitely make good apartment pets.<\/strong> They are small, adorable and they easily adapt to any living situation, like apartments. If you are someone who loves being outdoors, they\u2019re the perfect match for you.<\/p>\n
