Our friends at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.farmforward.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/FF-Dairy-Report-FINAL.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Farm Forward<\/a> worked with whistleblowers to release damning evidence of workers <strong>dragging, cutting, starving, and killing cows<\/strong> at \u201cCertified Humane\u201d and \u201cUSDA Organic\u201d Whole Foods dairy supplier Alexandre Family Farm. Take a look:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"video-player\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Struggling Cow Dragged Away by Forklift at &quot;Certified Humane&quot; Dairy Farm\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3-m7Nhdyl58?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Did Whistleblowers Document at Alexandre Family Farm?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Farm Forward\u2019s report details many instances of abuse, neglect, and mistreatment of cows at Alexandre Family Farm, including the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Workers dragged a cow across more than 150 feet of concrete and gravel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After the facility ran out of hay for several days, all 800 cows at Alexandre Family Farms tried to reach the feed simultaneously once it had been delivered. More than 40 cows were trampled to death, and 20 other cows were injured and ultimately euthanized due to injuries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>More than a dozen calves were found dead in just one day while confined alone to plastic pens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.peta.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/calf-in-hutch-at-alexandre-family-farm-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"602\" height=\"339\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A sick or injured cow was left outside, lying in a field for two weeks, slowly dying until a worker finally shot her.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A worker used a dirty pocket knife to cut off a large portion of a cow\u2019s udder without any pain medicine because an infection within her teat was blocking her milk flow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure (max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u2018Humane\u2019 Labels Mean Nothing<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When humans use animals for profit, it always causes suffering, regardless of the label slapped on animals\u2019 flesh and bodily fluids sold in stores. Cows are repeatedly and forcibly impregnated to produce milk. They make milk for the same reason that humans do\u2014to feed their babies. Workers separate calves from their mothers shortly after birth\u2014and often confine them alone\u2014on every dairy farm to steal their milk and sell it. No matter if the cows\u2019 milk is labeled \u201corganic,\u201d \u201craw,\u201d \u201cantibiotic-free,\u201d or \u201chumane,\u201d mother and baby cows suffer so that it can reach store shelves.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the first time that a meat, egg, or dairy company has used misleading marketing like this and duped consumers into thinking that animals didn\u2019t suffer. Whole Foods has been made aware that Alexandre Family Farm neglects and abuses cows, yet it continues to sell the farm\u2019s products, making it no better than any other chain that sells stolen milk.<\/p>\n<p>As part of PETA\u2019s initiative against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peta.org\/features\/humane-labels-are-lying-to-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">humane-washing ploys<\/a>, we are campaigning against the Whole Foods\u2013backed Global Animal Partnership and urging the three \u201canimal protection\u201d organizations that have representatives sitting on its board of directors to step down: the Humane Society of the United States, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and Compassion in World Farming.
