And after working its way through the government\u2019s approvals process that tool is finally here.<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">One of the problems with eating fish, besides the smell it can leave in the office microwave, is that mercury accumulates in their bodies over time, and we humans don\u2019t mix well with mercury. So you want to stay away from fish that have prodigious amounts. Luckily the government performs testing to monitor the mercury levels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Previously if you wanted to check whether a fish you\u2019d caught was safe to eat, you could dig down deep in the government\u2019s website to locate the Recommended Fish Consumption Limits in Alberta <a href=\"https:\/\/mywildalberta.ca\/fishing\/advisories-closures\/documents\/FishConsumptionLimitsAlberta-Feb24-2016.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">PDF document<\/a>.
