In fact, the trend looks set to go stratospheric in 2025.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Makeup artist Tanielle Jai (who has heavily influenced such viral aesthetics as the latte makeup look) tells Glamour that kissable lips will be the one to watch, with semimatte balms now in contention for the win in 2025, given the romantic (and forgiving) finish they can create.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI think we\u2019ll be seeing less emphasis on defined lip liner and more of that \u2018bitten lip\u2019 look inspired by Korean and French beauty trends,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s a soft, blurred, just-kissed, lived-in matte style that feels effortless<\/em>.\u201d \u2013 Glamour<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sure, Dior Lip Oil had its moment, but those shiny, syrupy lips are officially taking a back seat. Say hello to the Rom-Com Lip: soft, semi-matte textures that practically beg to be kissed. Makeup artist Tanielle Jai, the mastermind behind viral latte makeup, tells Glamour that 2025 is all about the \u201cbitten lip\u201d look. Think Korean and French beauty inspiration\u2014soft, blurred, and like you just shared a kiss on a Parisian park bench. Tr\u00e8s chic, indeed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we\u2019ll be seeing less emphasis on defined lip liner and more of that lived-in matte style,\u201d Jai says. Translation: Perfectly imperfect lips are in. Glossy, high-maintenance looks? Out.<\/p>\n<h3>Rom-Com Lip 101<\/h3>\n<p>When I hear \u201cRom-Com,\u201d my brain immediately pulls up the queen of rom-com \u2013 Meg Ryan.<\/p>\n<p>Seriously, Sally Albright (When Harry Met Sally) is the OG of this look: natural lips, barely-there color, no liner\u2014pure, unbothered perfection.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"When Harry Met Sally Ending Scene\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/g4ODPyUxLNw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So, what are Rom-Com Lips, exactly? Simple:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Skip the lip liner.<\/li>\n<li>Stick to soft, natural shades (no dark, vampy tones).<\/li>\n<li>Add a hint of gloss or balm for dimension.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So yes, while the so-called beauty experts tell us that gloss is out for the Rom-Com lip look, I can\u2019t give up my moisturizer. Thank you. I\u2019m keeping the gloss. I just won\u2019t slather it on.<\/p>\n<p>For me, the Rom-Com isn\u2019t about the blur or \u201cjust bitten\u201d look but about a more natural look without the liner to keep it all prim and proper.<\/p>\n<p>This look thrives on customization. Personally, I\u2019ve been rocking it forever. My formula:<\/p>\n<p>A matte lipstick or stain\u2014ideally a shade close to (or lighter than) my natural lip color. I don\u2019t bother with perfect application; smashing my lips together to spread it is my technique. Wet-n-Wild\u2019s white multi-stick in flat or pearl white, dabbed onto the center of my bottom lip, then smudged. A swipe of gloss to finish it off. Boom. Done. It\u2019s fuss-free, forgiving, and wildly flattering. Because if there\u2019s one thing beauty brands are exceptional at, it\u2019s spinning TikTok trends into new product categories we never knew we needed.
