This year, we have the opportunity to talk to as many of the minds behind these shorts as possible in a series of interviews that begins today. Her short <em>Bunnyhood<\/em> is part of the Midnight Short Film Program at Sundance and was also won the La Cinef at Cannes in 2024. We asked Mansi how she got started in animation:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to have a fashion brand, and if you scan a QR code, you can then go and watch an animated film that I also directed. So I decided that I need to learn how to direct an animated movie, and that\u2019s where I went to NFTS in the UK. And now I\u2019m just making films and I\u2019ve forgotten everything fashion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bunnyhood  \/\/ Cannes La Cinef Winning Short Film \/\/ Official Trailer\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/23SGCUS1Gas?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Bunnyhood<\/em> is a unique short and Mansi talked with us about her inspiration:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always struggled with why people lie so much in the world because it spreads so much misinformation. And with news, the state of news right now where you can\u2019t believe anything there\u2019s some information at you and then there\u2019s new information and you really can\u2019t trust anything\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The film has a special visual style and use of color:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of times it was just in my head how it looked. Sometimes I just could not see the color in that frame, so I decided not to color it. And a lot of times it was also if we could even have paint in the background because the backgrounds is just one layer. So if we paint the whole thing, maybe the color is gonna come on top of the character because we don\u2019t have too much color on the character. So if they\u2019re running across, then they\u2019re gonna have different parts of the background on them. So sometimes we just decided not to color it all together, so we were just being cheeky with it. Sometimes we put it, sometimes we don\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-62729\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rotoscopers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/bunnyhood_21-300x178.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"590\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rotoscopers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/bunnyhood_21-300x178.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.rotoscopers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/bunnyhood_21-1024x606.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.rotoscopers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/bunnyhood_21-768x455.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.rotoscopers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/bunnyhood_21-1536x909.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.rotoscopers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/bunnyhood_21-750x444.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.rotoscopers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/bunnyhood_21-1140x675.jpg 1140w, https:\/\/www.rotoscopers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/bunnyhood_21.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px\"\/><br \/><strong>Once the animation is finished it became time to put together the music and other aspects of the short:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe music, it was quite hard actually, because sometimes you don\u2019t really know what\u2019s sound and what\u2019s music because it\u2019s going so hand in hand\u2026you don\u2019t really realize where sound is ending and where music is beginning. So it was so hard to direct them separately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>After finishing <em>Bunnyhood<\/em>, Mansi shares her exciting moment of the film getting accepted into Sundance:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was so happy. It was my birthday and everyone was singing Happy Birthday to me at the same moment as they were telling me that I\u2019ve gotten accepted. I was like, who is calling me? Like, thank you for accepting the film, but who are you? Who is this?
