The most expensive home sold in Marin is one of my most popular blog articles each year, and I am pleased to present it as we kick off 2025. Those who read this article each year will note that 2024 was an anomaly in several ways.<\/span><\/p>\n

First, the top sale of $13,950,000 is the lowest-priced sale in the ten years I have been writing this article. Overall, the top 10 most expensive homes in Marin moved downward a bit in 2024, breaking the $10 million price point to end at $9,100,000.<\/span><\/p>\n

Second, <\/span>Mill Valley<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Tiburon<\/span><\/a> did not make the top 10 this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

2024 was a strange year for real estate in Marin County as we came off a tough 2023 when the market reacted to higher interest rates and tech layoffs. While the median sales price in Mill Valley was up 2.3% for the year to $2,250,000, it declined by 2.7% in Tiburon to $3,485,000. I believe much of this was due to buyers sidelined by lower tech bonuses and a presidential election year that caused a lot of uncertainty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, <\/span>California Governor Newsom<\/span><\/a> bought one of the homes in the top 10, but since discretion is the better part of valor I won\u2019t be identifying which one that is. Perhaps you can guess!<\/span><\/p>\n

Ross claimed the top spot, with <\/span>11 Southwood Avenue<\/span><\/a> selling for $13,950,000. Stephanie Lamarre, one of my esteemed colleagues at <\/span>Golden Gate Sotheby\u2019s Realty<\/span><\/a>, represented this beautiful property..<\/span><\/p>\n
