On\u00a0 the cargo front, a total of 1.99 million tons\u00a0 airfreight throughput was recorded in the year, surpassing 2023\u2019s level by 14.6%.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-1\"\/>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Breaking?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\">#Breaking<\/a>: Changi Airport handled 67.7 million passengers in 2024, a 14.8% year-on-year increase, reaching 99.1% of the passenger traffic seen in 2019. Aircraft movements totalled 366,000 in 2024, up 11.5% compared to 2023. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/eAATPPusgs\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\">pic.twitter.com\/eAATPPusgs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Changi Airport (@ChangiAirport) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChangiAirport\/status\/1881884594552623487?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\">January 22, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>December was the airport\u2019s busiest month for 2024, with 6.4 million passenger movements. The busiest day of the year was December 21, 2024 \u2013 the Saturday before Christmas \u2013 when 226,000 passengers passed through Changi\u2019s terminals. The airport said it was the first time monthly traffic has exceeded six million since December 2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In terms of visitor origins, all regions saw growth. But the fastest growing in 2024 was the North Asian region, registering an increase of 40% compared to 2023. The airport\u2019s top five passenger markets for the year were China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia and Thailand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The airport\u2019s largest source market for 2024 was China, with passenger traffic almost doubling 2023\u2019s level and surpassing the pre-Covid level by 6%.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-2\"\/>\n<p>When it comes to the busiest routes from SIN, the top five departures were to: Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), Bangkok\u2019s Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK), Jakarta\u2019s Soekarno\u2013Hatta International Airport (CGK), Denpasar\u2019s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG).<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, Changi Airport welcomed eight new passenger airlines: Aero Dili, AirAsia Cambodia, Air Canada, Air Japan, Loong Air, Peach Aviation, Tianjin Airlines and West Air.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe witnessed a year of strong growth in passenger and cargo traffic as well as connectivity in 2024. Changi added a bumper crop of 11 new city links, strengthening the air hub\u2019s network and opening up a world of new destinations to support business ties and for travellers to explore. We are deeply grateful for the close partnership with our airline partners and are pleased to welcome the new airlines to Changi. Their collaboration has been instrumental in driving this growth,\u201d Yam Kum Weng, Chief Executive Officer of Changi Airport Group said in a statement.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-3\"\/>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cLooking ahead, we are optimistic of another year of growth in passenger traffic.
