\"PlayStation\"<\/p>\n

PlayStation 5 lifetime shipments have reached 95.3 million units worldwide, despite Sony<\/a> recording another year-over-year decline in quarterly console sales.<\/p>\n

Sony shipped 1.6 million PS5 consoles between April and June 2026, down from 2.5 million during the same period last year. This represents a decline of approximately 36% as the system approaches its sixth anniversary.<\/p>\n

Despite weaker hardware demand, Sony\u2019s Game & Network Services division generated \u00a5937.1 billion in revenue, remaining broadly unchanged from the previous year.<\/p>\n

Operating profit increased by 37% to \u00a554.1 billion, supported by favorable exchange rates and refunds related to US tariffs. Increased next-generation platform investment and restructuring expenses partially offset those gains, according to Sony\u2019s financial results<\/a>.<\/p>\n

PlayStation\u2019s monthly active users reached 125 million accounts in June, representing a 2% annual increase and a new record for that particular month. However, total gameplay time declined by 4% during the quarter.<\/p>\n

PS4 and PS5 software sales reached 66.1 million units, including six million first-party games. Digital downloads represented 82% of full-game sales, leaving physical copies with an 18% share.<\/p>\n

Sony has increased its full-year forecast following the stronger-than-expected quarter.
