None of this electrification happens without a power grid that can carry the extra load, since every heat pump, electric vehicle and electrified factory process, plus new demand from data centres and hydrogen production,\u00a0has to\u00a0connect to the system somewhere. ENTSO-E, the association\u00a0representing\u00a0Europe\u2019s grid operators, has\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/entso-e_electrification-energytransition-electricitygrids-activity-7483878236637290497-Xso4?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop&amp;rcm=ACoAAD_tZSgB7EMyiXx3FAc1UtUJMND8bD9s-lk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">welcomed<\/a>\u00a0the plan for recognising that electrification and grid development need to move together. But its own view of what\u2019s needed goes well beyond pricing: enough investment in grid infrastructure, backed by financing and faster permitting; more flexibility in how the grid is used; and better management of the queues that currently leave new power projects waiting years just to connect.
