How To Make Dinosaur Cookies for a Dinosaur Party

What Keeps Cookie Dough From Spreading?

The main reason cookie dough spreads while baking is because it contains too much butter or other fat. When the dough is placed in the oven, the heat melts the fat, causing the dough to spread outwards. To prevent this from happening, be sure to use a recipe (like this one) that contains the correct amount of fat.

You can also chill the dough for 30 minutes to an hour before baking, which will help to firm it up and prevent spreading. Finally, make sure your baking sheet is properly cooled before placing the dough on it. If it’s too hot, the dough will start to melt and spread before it even hits the oven!

How Do You Ice Cut-Out Cookies?

The best way to ice cut-out cookies is to use a piping bag or a zip-top bag with the corner snipped off. This will give you much more control over the icing, and allow you to create smooth, even lines. If you don’t have either of these items on hand, you can also use a spoon or a small offset spatula to spread the icing.

"triceratops"triceratops

Start by outlining the cookie with a thin line of icing, and then fill in the rest of the cookie with a thicker layer. If you’re using multiple colors, outline each section with a different color before filling it in. Once the cookies are iced, you can decorate them with sprinkles, candies, or anything else you like!

How Do You Store Dinosaur Cookies?

Dinosaur cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. If you want them to last longer, they can also be frozen for up to three months. Just be sure to wrap the cookies individually in plastic wrap before placing them in the freezer, so they don’t stick together.
