I just got back from a short holiday at the beach.<\/p>\n

It was the first time in a long time that I could unplug. And other than checking emails every other day, I was completely offline.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The weather wasn\u2019t great, but I packed a couple of jigsaw puzzles that kept us entertained for days.<\/p>\n

I spent a lot of the time stretching my eyes and gazing over the horizon.<\/p>\n

It was just what I needed.<\/p>\n

So when I turned my phone back on and checked the news, I was like:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not going to pretend things are rosy \u2014 they\u2019re not.<\/p>\n

The world is on a knife-edge right now, and even if your personal life is going well, it\u2019s hard to escape the chaos and uncertainty.<\/p>\n

The onslaught on our nervous system is unlikely to stop any time soon.<\/p>\n

Just when we think we\u2019ve reached peak saturation, we\u2019re bombarded with another crisis.<\/p>\n

The good old days when we could relax and unwind with a glass of wine or an early night are gone.<\/p>\n

The level of stress we\u2019re exposed to now requires a more deliberate approach.<\/p>\n

We can no longer hide under the covers and wait for the storm to pass.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Modern life IS\u00a0the storm, and if we want to find the calm, we need to actively cultivate it.<\/p>\n

Stress is registered in our nervous system as a threat, and it remains there until we move it.<\/p>\n

Deliberate breathing practices combined with rhythmic, repetitive movements help our bodies and nervous systems discharge that stress.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s only when our nervous system settles that our minds can calm down.<\/p>\n

This means that a regular practice\u00a0to clear stress is no longer a luxury; it\u2019s a necessity if we want to cope with modern living (let alone thrive).<\/p>\n

Now I know how hard it is to get on your mat each week. It\u2019s so much easier to zone out, doomscroll, or watch Netflix.<\/p>\n

But things will only get better if we deliberately choose to make them better.<\/p>\n

Otherwise, entropy rules, meaning things will get worse unless we take action.<\/p>\n

So, to encourage you to show up on your mat, book your next class here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
