A few months ago, my husband suffered a heart attack. One moment life was moving along as usual. The next, we were sitting in hospital rooms listening to medical terminology neither of us expected to hear.<\/p>\n

I got truth.<\/strong><\/p>\n And I\u2019ve come to realize those aren\u2019t always the same thing.<\/p>\n Looking back, I wasn\u2019t really searching for truth. It doesn\u2019t change when the diagnosis changes. It doesn\u2019t shift when the economy shifts. It doesn\u2019t disappear when life becomes difficult.<\/p>\n Truth remains.<\/strong><\/p>\n One of the hardest lessons I learned during my husband\u2019s recovery was this:<\/p>\n I was chasing certainty when God was offering truth.<\/strong><\/p>\n Certainty says: \u201cI\u2019ll be okay when I know how this ends.\u201d<\/p>\n Truth says: \u201cGod is with me regardless of how this unfolds.\u201d<\/p>\n Certainty says: \u201cI need all the answers.\u201d<\/p>\n Truth says: \u201cI can trust the One who has them.\u201d<\/p>\n Certainty focuses on outcomes.\u00a0Truth focuses on God\u2019s character.<\/strong> And while certainty isn\u2019t always available,\u00a0truth always is<\/strong>.<\/p>\n That realization changed the questions I was asking. Instead of asking: \u201cWhat if things get worse?\u201d I began asking:<\/p>\n \u201cWhat do I know to be true right now?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Those truths became an anchor.<\/p>\n Not because they answered every question\u2014 but because they gave me something solid to hold onto while I waited.<\/p>\n It\u2019s so hard to stay anchored in truth because there are so many competing voices. Fear has a voice. Social media has a voice. News headlines have a voice. Opinions have a voice. Even our emotions have a voice.<\/p>\n And sometimes those voices are loud.<\/p>\n The challenge isn\u2019t finding a voice. Someone else\u2019s approval? If it can change tomorrow, it cannot be your anchor.<\/p>\n 2. Separate Facts from Fear<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n Facts deserve attention. Fear often fills in blanks.<\/p>\n 3. Replace \u201cWhat If\u201d with \u201cWhat Is\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cWhat if\u201d creates anxiety. Truth brings you back to what is real.<\/p>\n 4. Ask One Simple Question<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0Am I responding to truth or reacting to fear?<\/em><\/p>\n Feelings are real, but they are not always reliable.<\/p>\n There were moments during that season when I felt afraid. Moments I felt overwhelmed. Moments I wished I knew the future. Yet those feelings didn\u2019t change what was true.<\/p>\n God was still present. God was still faithful.
