It\u2019s fresh, simple, and comes together in just minutes. Garden-fresh tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, fresh basil, olive oil, and a sweet balsamic reduction make the perfect combination.<\/p>\n<h2>Ingredients<\/h2>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>4 large ripe tomatoes, sliced<\/li>\n<li>8 oz fresh mozzarella, sliced or torn into pieces<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc cup fresh basil, chopped<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil<\/li>\n<li>Salt and pepper, to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>For the Balsamic Reduction<\/h3>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>1 cup balsamic vinegar<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Directions<\/h2>\n<h3>Make the Balsamic Reduction<\/h3>\n<ol start=\"1\" data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Add the balsamic vinegar and brown sugar (if using) to a small saucepan.<\/li>\n<li>Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce heat and simmer for 10\u201315 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture has reduced by about half and coats the back of a spoon.<\/li>\n<li>Remove from heat and allow it to cool. It will continue to thicken as it cools.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Assemble the Salad<\/h3>\n<ol start=\"1\" data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Arrange the tomato slices and mozzarella on a serving platter or bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle with fresh basil.<\/li>\n<li>Drizzle with olive oil.<\/li>\n<li>Season with salt and pepper.<\/li>\n<li>Finish with a generous drizzle of the balsamic reduction.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Budget Savvy Tip<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">During summer, I love making this with tomatoes from the farmers market or my garden.
