Article By: Leanne Ridgeway<\/span><\/h6>\nBorn in Northwest Italy<\/a> in 2003, GUNASH<\/strong><\/a> was formed out of an idea from guitarist, singer, and composer Ivano \u2018Zor\u2019 Zorgniotti<\/strong> and drummer, percussionist, and pianist Danilo Abaldo<\/strong> (aka Pannico<\/strong>).<\/p>\nThey composed an original rock-alternative<\/a> repertoire, with punk, metal, grunge<\/a>, stoner, and prog-rock influences, with main inspiration sprouting from the \u201990s Seattle Sound, but also Foo Fighters<\/a> and Queens Of The Stone Age. The band\u2019s name is a twist between Ganesh and the words \u2018gun\u2019 + \u2018ash\u2019, which have equal phonetics. A fusion between spirituality and the gloomy contradiction of the two terms, reveals a concept that contains its opposite.<\/p>\nIn 2005, Gunash released a self-titled debut<\/a>, featuring six original tracks and seven revisited covers of King Crimson, Nirvana, Placebo, and Jeff Buckley, among others. They collaborated with cellist Marco \u2018Cactus\u2019 Allocco<\/strong>, an orchestral player in several editions of Pavarotti & Friends. When the sophomore album was still a work in progress in 2012, the band started a new collaboration with musician and producer Rami Jaffee<\/strong>, keyboardist for Foo Fighters<\/a>, founding member with Jakob Dylan of The Wallflowers, and winner of nine Grammy Awards with various musical projects. Jaffe<\/strong> recorded keyboards and Hammond B3 organ for several tracks at his Fonogenic Studios in Los Angeles. That second album also again featured cellist Marco Allocco<\/strong>.<\/p>\nGUNASH<\/strong><\/a> signed with dynamic Italian record label Go Down Records<\/strong><\/a> for the second album, entitled \u2018Same Old Nightmare<\/em><\/a>\u2018, released in May 2014. In the summer of 2016, the third album \u2018Great Expectations<\/em><\/a>\u2018 was recorded and then released in early 2017. Luca Negro<\/strong> then joined on as the new bass player of the threesome in 2018, and the new lineup toured internationally in support of their releases.<\/p>\nFast forward to the second half of 2021, when the band entered Morphing Studio<\/strong><\/a> in Bologna, Italy, to record their fourth album. The upcoming release is called \u2018All You Can Hit<\/em><\/strong>\u2018 and features the extraordinary participation of the legendary musician Derek Sherinian<\/strong> (formerly of Dream Theater<\/a>, Billy Idol<\/a>, Alice Cooper<\/a>, and a founding member of Sons Of Apollo<\/a>) on keyboards and piano, the vocals of stoner rock icon Nick Oliveri<\/strong><\/a> (ex-Queens Of The Stone Age<\/a>, Kyuss, Mondo Generator<\/a>), the cello of Marco Allocco<\/strong> (Pavarotti & Friends, The Berliner, Quintettango), and the harmonica of Tom Harp Newton<\/strong>.<\/p>\nOnce again working with Go Down Records<\/strong><\/a>, GUNASH <\/strong>also signed with the label Golden Robot Entertainment Group<\/strong><\/a> for the digital edition of the album. The choice of showing pictures of inedible food explains the band\u2019s statement on this matter. They want to send out a strong message with \u2018EAT\u2019 that turns into \u2018HIT\u2019, that is, hitting everyone\u2019s conscience. The lyrics talk about relationships between people, the concept of \u2018possessing\u2019 someone else, and how difficult it is to keep our status as human beings, as well as the one of being humans.<\/p>\nWith artwork by Ivano \u2018Zor\u2019 Zorgniotti and Ale Martone<\/strong>, the \u2018All You Can Hit<\/em><\/strong>\u2018 album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Fausto De Bellis<\/strong> at Muxland Studio<\/strong> and Morphing Studio<\/strong> in Bologna, Italy.
