As an environmental anthropologist, her research interests focus on political ecological approaches to studying livelihoods of small-scale fishers, and fisher\/farmer populations in floodplain\/estuarine environments, in the Mekong Basin, East Africa and the UK (Thames Estuary). As an educator, her key interests lie in experiential and situated learning; \u00a0research-based education; critical pedagogies in HE and student partnership in curriculum reform.
