Philippine<br \/>\n Airlines (PAL) has finally accepted the offer to join as it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Oneworld alliance governing board, after receiving invitation to join sponsored by American Airlines, Qatar Airways, and Qantas, two of whom are founding members, capping a period of rapidly deepening commercial<br \/>\nrelationships with key alliance members.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">The<br \/>\nMOU was signed on June 6 in Rio de Janeiro on the sidelines of the IATA<br \/>\nAnnual General Meeting, with formal membership expected to take 18 months for integration to complete.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">In May, the airline expanded its<br \/>\ncodeshare agreement with Qatar Airways, unlocking more than 40<br \/>\nadditional destinations across Europe, the Middle East and Southeast<br \/>\nAsia, and launching reciprocal loyalty benefits between Qatar\u2019s<br \/>\nPrivilege Club and PAL\u2019s Mabuhay Miles program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">Shortly<br \/>\n after, Qantas Frequent Flyer members gained Classic Reward seat access<br \/>\nacross PAL\u2019s entire network, opening up 15 Philippine island<br \/>\ndestinations \u2013 including Boracay, Cebu and Palawan \u2013 as well as onward<br \/>\nconnections to North America and the Middle East.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">American<br \/>\n Airlines CEO and Oneworld chairman Robert Isom said adding Philippine<br \/>\nAirlines would \u201cstrengthen our connectivity across key markets in the<br \/>\nAsia Pacific region.\u201d PAL serves 69 destinations globally \u2013 31 not<br \/>\ncurrently covered by any other Oneworld member \u2013 and flies from Manila<br \/>\nto six US cities: Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York<br \/>\n and Honolulu, as well as Guam.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">Full<br \/>\nmembership will eventually formalise earn and redeem benefits for<br \/>\nfrequent flyers across the alliance, and open up one of Southeast Asia\u2019s<br \/>\n most extensive domestic networks to Oneworld\u2019s global base.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial;\">Philippine Airlines becomes the 16th member of the airline alliance as it build bridges to 1,000
