If enacted, the\u00a0<em>Protecting Privacy and Consumer Data Act<\/em>\u00a0(PPCDA) will repeal Part 1 of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lois.justice.gc.ca\/eng\/acts\/p-8.6\/FullText.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(PIPEDA) and establish a modernized federal private-sector privacy regime for Canada.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PPCDA is the third iteration of federal privacy reform legislation following\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.parl.ca\/LegisInfo\/en\/bill\/43-2\/c-11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bill C-11 (2020)<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.parl.ca\/legisinfo\/en\/bill\/44-1\/c-27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bill C-27 (2022)<\/a>, both of which died on the order paper.
