William IV furniture is from the era of when King William was on the throne in England from 1830 to 1837 and although it was a short period some very nice pieces of\u00a0antique furniture<\/a>\u00a0were made in fine timbers with unusual features. William IV furniture displayed decorative features similar to the\u00a0Regency design<\/a>\u00a0but with slightly more decoration. Carvings like claw animal feet and beautiful figured woods were used like\u00a0Rosewood<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Mahogany<\/a>. It is a very nice period to collect as quality was a big factor in the construction and so pieces were built to last.<\/p>\n

Styles of William IV Furniture<\/h2>\n

Antique tables<\/a>\u00a0from this period came in all varieties and were constructed with elegant detailing like this figured Rosewood William IV Antique Tea \/ Console Table. It has the most magnificent figured top above central turned acanthus leaf turned pedestal with quadraform base and turned carved feet with Brass castors.<\/p>\n

Pedestal Tables were also very popular of this period as the unique smaller size would have many functions from standing on decorative items to a candle for additional lighting. <\/p>\n

\"Stunning<\/a><\/figure>\n

Antique dinning chairs<\/a>\u00a0were usually with two carvers, all with wonderfully curved backs that have fine decoratively carved detailing. This fine set of chairs stand on splayed back legs and elegant turned octagonal front legs. The Two carvers have spectacular scrolled arms and would complement any dinner table.<\/p>\n

\"Quality<\/a><\/figure>\n

Large and magnificent pieces of William IV Furniture was made to impress like Mahogany\u00a0Antique Pedestal Sideboards<\/a>\u00a0or chiffoniers with the most spectacular scrolled carved backs or flamed mahogany panels and turned columns.<\/p>\n

\"Magnificent<\/a><\/figure>\n

within the same room would be displayed a figured Mahogany circular central\u00a0antique dining table<\/a>\u00a0having a wonderful mirrored flamed Mahogany figured top with an unusual ornate decorative frieze. The top on these tables usually tilt by using the original brass mechanism or Banjo catch. <\/p>\n

Delicate detailing was added to\u00a0antique bookcases<\/a>\u00a0like a half round moulded edge. This would have a decorative carved frieze and glazed doors with elegant carvings along with beautifully scrolled carved corbels. You can see similar designs throughout all furniture from this period. This Rare William IV Mahogany Antique Bookcase Cupboard was signed and dated on the back Charles C Gray 1848. As animal carvings were at the height of fashion, these were applied to all kinds of furniture in the home. This William IV antique Mahogany secretaire\u00a0cupboard<\/a>\u00a0has the most elegant scrolled carvings and the most spectacular carved claw feet. The top is cross-banded edge above a deep moulded drawer that falls down to reveal a\u00a0writing desk<\/a>\u00a0insert, several mahogany lined drawers and pigeon holes.<\/p>\n

Wardrobes from this period come in different sizes but again with unusual features. This Mahogany wardrobe has an inverted moulded cornice with spectacular carved pediment above a beautifully figured full length cupboard door with brass handle.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
