Passing the assessment confirms that our approach to supporting learners and employers is <strong>robust, consistent, and focused on real outcomes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what does that mean in practice? And why should it matter to you or your business?<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are the most important and useful findings from the report, not just the headline result.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What the Matrix assessment looked at<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The assessment was carried out over three days and involved:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Interviews with apprentices, employers, coaches, and senior leaders at TAA<\/li>\n<li>Reviews of policies, systems, and learner journeys<\/li>\n<li>A deep dive into how advice and guidance is delivered, not just documented<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The outcome: <strong>TAA met the Matrix Standard<\/strong>, with the next review due in <strong>March 2029<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Information, Advice and Guidance at TAA: more than a tick-box<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the strongest themes in the report was that <strong>IAG is embedded throughout everything we do<\/strong>, rather than treated as a one-off conversation at enrolment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In practice, that means:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Learners are carefully matched to programmes that suit their role, experience, and aspirations<\/li>\n<li>Initial assessments (including cognitive and skills scans) help identify support needs early<\/li>\n<li>Regular coaching sessions keep progress, wellbeing, and progression in focus<\/li>\n<li>Employers are actively involved throughout each apprenticeship through structured Tri-Party reviews<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Safeguarding and progression planning were highlighted as integral parts of our IAG approach, not just add-ons.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Measuring what really matters: outcomes, not just completions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report recognised the use of outcome-based measures, to understand the <strong>real impact<\/strong> our of apprenticeships.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We track learner and employer outcomes using the:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>3 Cs<\/strong> \u2013 Confidence, Competence, and Career Capability<\/li>\n<li><strong>3 Ps<\/strong> \u2013 Productivity, Pay Rises, and Promotions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From our 2025 data:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>100% of learners reported increased confidence<\/li>\n<li>99.5% reported improved professional competence<\/li>\n<li>100% reported increased career capability<\/li>\n<li>77% of employers saw improved productivity<\/li>\n<li>71% of learners achieved a pay rise<\/li>\n<li>54% gained a promotion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These measures go beyond compliance and help employers see tangible returns on their investment.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1846\" height=\"1417\" src=\"https:\/\/theapprenticeacademy.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Three-Cs_Ps_15.01.26_WebBanner.svg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20866\"\/><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Quality training at scale: growing without losing what makes us effective<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the years, TAA has grown to over <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/theapprenticeacademy.co.uk\/blog\/growing-talent-growing-trees\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"19421\">1,000 learners<\/a><\/strong>. The Matrix report noted that this growth has been managed <strong>without compromising quality or learner support<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Key strengths highlighted included:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A strong learner centred culture<\/li>\n<li>Clear organisational values rooted in social citizenship and community impact<\/li>\n<li>Consistent use of systems to personalise support<\/li>\n<li>Withdrawal rates significantly lower than the sector average (Our overall success rate was 79.2% in 24\/25 which compares to the national average of 65.4%. To see how we compare to all other training providers please see <a href=\"https:\/\/theapprenticeacademy.co.uk\/compare-the-market\/\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Useful insights for employers<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For employers considering using apprenticeships as part of their workforce development plans, the report reinforces a few key points:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Structured IAG helps apprentices stay on programme and perform better at work<\/li>\n<li>Regular, meaningful reviews strengthen alignment between learning and business needs<\/li>\n<li>Clear progression conversations improve retention and motivation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report also recognises our growing work with employers on <strong>targeted programmes<\/strong>, including our newest apprenticeship <a href=\"https:\/\/theapprenticeacademy.co.uk\/apprenticeships\/business-apprenticeships\/artificial-intelligence-apprenticeship\/\"><strong>Artificial Intelligence and Automation Level 4<\/strong><\/a> with shorter modules extracted to include the <a href=\"https:\/\/theapprenticeacademy.co.uk\/apprenticeship-units-funded-short-courses\/\"><strong>AI Leadership \u2013 Developing AI Strategy<\/strong><\/a><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where we\u2019re continuing to improve<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Matrix isn\u2019t just about what\u2019s working, it\u2019s also about recognising areas for continuous improvement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Areas we\u2019re actively developing:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Raising the profile of careers guidance across all services<\/li>\n<li>Further upskilling staff to strengthen IAG capability<\/li>\n<li>Managing resources to better support learners with additional needs<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring consistency when learners experience a rare change of coach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We welcome these recommendations and see them as part of our ongoing commitment to raising quality and standards.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Matrix matters<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Passing Matrix matters because it gives learners, employers, and partners confidence that:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advice and guidance is impartial, informed, and consistent<\/li>\n<li>Learners are supported as individuals<\/li>\n<li>Decisions are based on outcomes, not assumptions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most importantly, it confirms that our approach to apprenticeships is about long-term career development, not short-term compliance.
