{"id":352414,"date":"2026-07-06T16:08:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T16:08:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/apple-2\/hide-my-email-vulnerability-exposes-real-addresses\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T16:08:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T16:08:17","slug":"hide-my-email-vulnerability-exposes-real-addresses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=352414","title":{"rendered":"\u201cHide My Email\u201d Vulnerability Exposes Real Addresses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"post-74757\">\n<div class=\"c-post__content\">\n<p>At 404 Media, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.404media.co\/apple-hide-my-email-vulnerability-reveals-peoples-real-email-addresses\/\">Joseph Cox writes<\/a> (paywalled):<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>A vulnerability in Apple\u2019s \u201cHide My Email\u201d tool lets almost anyone discover a person\u2019s real email address that is supposed to be hidden by the feature, and Apple has failed to fix it for more than a year, according to a security researcher and 404 Media\u2019s own tests.<\/p>\n<p>404 Media is not revealing the exact details of the vulnerability because it can still be exploited as of Monday, when 404 Media verified the issue with one of our own hidden email addresses.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Hide My Email, part of Apple\u2019s iCloud+ subscription, generates random @icloud.com addresses that forward to your real inbox\u2014letting you sign up for services without revealing your actual email address. I seldom use Hide My Email because my email address is already all over the Internet, but this seems like a \u201cyou had one job\u201d situation. It\u2019s a particularly bad look for Apple to have ignored this reported vulnerability for over a year, and I suspect the company will fix it soon due to all the negative press now that it\u2019s public. In other (possibly related?)
