Moriah Mills is back at the center of controversy after posting a new TikTok video claiming Washington Wizards’ star CJ McCollum was in her direct messages during her past relationship with Zion Williamson. The clip arrived just days after McCollum laughed uncontrollably on the Club 520 podcast when asked about ever seeing Mills in person, setting off fresh conversation around the long-running scandal. Mills’ TikTok, reposted widely on X, quickly went viral as she revisited her claims and suggested that people were trying to “poke at” her in 2025, prompting her to speak out again.

In the video, Mills adopts a defensive and animated tone, gesturing directly at the camera as she insists McCollum contacted her privately while she was involved with Williamson. Her comments, paired with her earlier history of detailed accusations against Zion during their 2023 fallout, reignited a familiar debate about her credibility and intentions. The timing of her remarks — immediately after McCollum’s podcast clip went viral — added fuel to the drama. Therefore, creating another chapter in a saga that many believed had faded.

The resurfaced claims now sit at the intersection of past drama and present-day reaction. Thus, creating a new spark in a storyline that has lingered for nearly three years.

Mills’ recent comments didn’t appear out of nowhere. Her history with Zion Williamson first exploded publicly in June 2023, when Williamson announced that he and his girlfriend Ahkeema were expecting a child. Within hours, Mills began posting a flood of allegations, claiming a long-term relationship with the NBA star that began around 2020. She insisted the two signed an NDA and even suggested financial arrangements between them, sharing screenshots and detailed claims that drove the story into national headlines.

Her posts escalated quickly. Over a span of ten days, Mills released more than 200 tweets discussing the alleged relationship, accusing Williamson of infidelity, and openly threatening both him and Ahkeema. X eventually suspended her account due to explicit content and repeated violations, but by that point her story had already become one of the biggest controversies of 2023. She continued sharing updates through TikTok and Instagram, insisting she was telling the truth about their relationship and its financial and emotional fallout.

Although the story eventually quieted down, Mills never fully stepped away from the public eye. Now, she has resurfaced the situation once again by contacting attorney Tony Buzbee about a potential lawsuit against Williamson. She later spoke in interviews about the toll the controversy took on her life. The original scandal may have faded from daily discussion, but it continued simmering beneath the surface — which made McCollum’s recent podcast appearance the perfect moment for it to reignite.

The latest spark came from CJ McCollum’s December 15 appearance on the Club 520 podcast. When the host asked whether he’d ever seen Moriah Mills in real life, McCollum immediately burst into laughter, leaning back in his seat, raising his hands, and repeatedly insisting he wanted no part of the topic. The rest of the couch joined in, turning the moment into a cascade of jokes and reactions that fed into the episode’s lighthearted tone.

McCollum eventually clarified that he had never met Mills in person, all while continuing to laugh at the mere mention of the scandal. At one point, he referenced the Pelicans team group chat’s reaction to the phenomenon back in 2023, suggesting the locker room found the situation chaotic and comical when it originally unfolded. The clip, just over 40 seconds long, immediately went viral on X, pulling in more than 1.9 million views and thousands of likes, reposts, and quotes.

The popularity of the clip not only revived memories of the original Williamson–Mills scandal but also repositioned McCollum directly into the conversation. Fans used his laughter as proof that the Pelicans saw the 2023 situation as exaggerated, unbelievable, or simply absurd. Within 48 hours, that laughter became the setup for Mills to step in with a new accusation — one she delivered directly into the camera from the front seat of her car.

Moriah Mills’ December 17 TikTok video runs for roughly 40 seconds and captures her in a parked car wearing large, crystal-covered sunglasses and a beige zip-up. She wastes no time jumping into her message, telling viewers she had been quiet “all of 2020” — misstating the year — before accusing people of trying to provoke her again in 2025. Her tone is sharp and confrontational, her gestures animated as she leans toward the camera.

Throughout the video, Mills insists she doesn’t want her name used for clout and warns that people don’t want to see the “Moriah from 2023.” She then pivots to her central claim, alleging that McCollum was “definitely” in her DMs during her involvement with Williamson. She ends with a warning for everyone to “keep it quiet,” punctuated by smirks and hand waves that signal both confidence and defiance.

The visual style — selfie shot, daylight pouring through an open sunroof, expressive hand movements — mirrors previous videos she made during the height of the 2023 fallout. Her delivery style remains consistent with her earlier public statements: fiery, unapologetic, and aimed directly at critics who question her story. The clip’s tone made it instantly primed for reposting, mockery, and debate across multiple platforms.

Reactions to the reposted TikTok were swift and overwhelmingly skeptical. Users flooded the replies with disbelief, jokes, and outright rejections of Mills’ claim. Many referenced McCollum’s reputation as a family man, arguing the idea that he would message Mills privately was illogical. Others pointed to her previous behavior, insisting she had already proven herself unreliable during the original 2023 scandal.

Some fans used humor to dismiss the allegation, posting memes, videos, or sarcastic comments. Others leaned into community jokes — including references to McCollum’s rumored dating preferences — to further undercut the claim. The tone of the replies suggested that most viewers saw the TikTok as an attempt to reinsert herself into the narrative after McCollum’s laughter went viral. Only a handful of responses offered sympathy or neutrality.

The numbers reflect the engagement: the reposted video generated hundreds of replies and quotes, with interaction largely driven by disbelief rather than support. It became clear that the audience was far more entertained by McCollum’s uncontrollable laughter than by Mills’ attempt to revive accusations from the past. The contrast between the humor on the podcast and the seriousness of Mills’ video shaped much of the public reaction.

While Mills has made many claims about Williamson over the years, the allegation involving McCollum hit differently for fans. McCollum is widely seen as measured and levelheaded, which made the idea of him DMing Mills difficult for many to believe. His immediate laughter on the podcast reinforced that perception, setting her allegation up to be viewed through a lens of skepticism.

This reaction also ties back to how her previous claims played out. The 2023 scandal received enormous attention, but her rapid posting, contradictory statements, and threats toward Williamson and Ahkeema damaged her credibility for much of the public. Even as she stepped back from the spotlight, the memory of that chaotic period continued to shape how people interpreted anything she said afterward.

The Long Trail of Events That Brought the Scandal Back into the Spotlight
