This Terry\u2019s Chocolate Orange Muffins recipe will come as a surprise to nobody who has been following this website for any length of time. <\/span><\/p>\n

My obsession with the flavour combination of chocolate and orange in desserts and baked treats is very well documented here.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the weeks just following Christmas, I had all but cleared the house of all treats. I emptied out the freezer of all the leftover cookies and cakes.<\/span><\/p>\n

They were dispersed to family and friends. Like most people in the post-christmas calorie haze, I\u2019m trying to bet back to a normal eating pattern. <\/span><\/p>\n

One thing stood in my way.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every year, without fail, Santa puts a Terry\u2019s Chocolate Orange at the bottom of my stocking. This year it was the last remaining item of Christmas chocolate in the house.<\/span><\/p>\n

So that I wouldn\u2019t eat the whole thing myself, I decided to create a new muffin and bake chunks of the chocolate orange right inside.<\/span><\/p>\n

To say these were a hit is quite an understatement. Even Spouse, who has more willpower than the rest of the household combined couldn\u2019t resist. <\/span><\/p>\n

I wonder, will I be able to hold out a whole year to make them again? Somehow, I don\u2019t think that\u2019s likely.<\/span><\/p>\n

2017 UPDATE: Based upon feedback from readers, I am no longer recommending adding the garnishing piece of chocolate orange before baking. Some found that the high sugar content of the chocolate caused it to scorch in their oven<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

INSTEAD, reserve the pieces you normally would have put on top of the batter and insert them, narrow side of the wedge pointing down, into the top of the baked muffin when they cool.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
