(series 7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"post-body-1606154092459528096\">\n<p>This started out as a review of what next for <a href=\"https:\/\/skyartsartistoftheyear.tv\/portrait-artist-of-the-year\/\" target=\"_blank\">Portrait Artist of the Year<\/a>. I pondered on what people had achieved from the various series. Which is how it turned into a review of what&#8217;s happened to the artists who have won the various series.<\/p>\n<p><b>This post is about the winners of Series 8 &#8211; 11<\/b> (Curtis Holder, Calum Stevenson, Morag Caister, Wendy Barratt and Brogen Bertie)<\/p>\n<p><b>The next post is about the winners of Series 2 &#8211; 7<\/b> (Christian Hook, Gareth Reid, Samira Addo, Duncan Shoesmith, and Christobel Blackburn)<\/p>\n<p><b>I&#8217;d say that what people achieve post PAOTY is a product of their:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li><b>natural talent &#8211; and the artwork they produce<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>application to the business side of art<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>ability to communicate<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>application of effort to getting things done and making things happen.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Curtis Holder has become a very regular feature of the art scene in the UK since he won in 2020 and gave up his teaching job.\u00a0 He has an extremely extensive &#8220;things done since PAOTY&#8221; list of activities on his website<\/b>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To my mind he has achieved the most through winning the PAOTY competition &#8211; by some margin.<\/p>\n<p><b>Curtis Holder won the second series in 2020<\/b> (in the autumn slot on Sky Arts)<\/p>\n<p>Sinec then:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>He&#8217;s joined various national art societies\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>He has been a selector or Judge for 11 exhibitions since 2020.<\/li>\n<li><b>He&#8217;s participated in a very large number of group exhibitions<\/b><\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>14 in 2025<\/li>\n<li>8 in 2024<\/li>\n<li>16 in 2023<\/li>\n<li>17 in 2022<\/li>\n<li>6 in 2021<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>He&#8217;s also become an artist Ambassador for Derwent Pencils.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i><span style=\"color: #0b5394;\"><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Educated at Kingston University and Central Saint Martins, Holder is a member of Contemporary British Portrait Painters, The Society of Graphic Fine Art, and The Pastel Society.
