The rains for me are synonymous with reading a good book,
\nsipping a cuppa coffee and sitting by the window, staring as water pours down kissing
\nthe ground.\u00a0<\/span>I eagerly await the first showers which bring with them the fragrant smell of the wet earth, the joy of getting drenched and the feeling of renewal and bliss. When
\nI go home, which presently is close to Surat, Gujarat, I can\u2019t help exploring
\nthe region to find places that multiply the magic of monsoons manyfold.

\n1)\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Gira Waterfalls: For a tryst with nature<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

\nThese waterfalls were an unplanned discovery during my monsoon adventures. They are breathtakingly beautiful and I was pleasantly surprised to find something as wonderful so close to home. They are located about 3km from Waghai town and are a 30m natural drop into the Ambica River. Small tea and corn stalls make for a perfect snack while you enjoy the view.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n2) Parnera
\nHill: For breath-taking views<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

\nMy first
\nadventure trail took me to Parnera Hill,\u00a0a few kilometers off Valsad. To
\nreach the top, you have to climb 486 steps; the way up leads through many
\nsmall temples and an old broken fort. The Parnera Fort has a lot
\nof history dating back to the time of Maharaja Shivaji. The climb takes you through dense forests on either side, and the spectacular view of the countryside from the top is completely
\nworth the climb. A short and peaceful day trip during the rains!<\/span><\/p>\n

\n3) Dandi beach: For memorable sunsets<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

\nThis famous beach came into the limelight when selected by Mahatma Gandhi for the Salt March. The beach is closest to a town called Navsari. The beach is not as crowded as compared to other beaches in India, and yet offers a unique and tranquil experience. I went by, to experience a sunset during the first showers, and was awestruck by the colors of the horizon.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n4) Saputara: The only hill
\nstation in the Sahyadri Range<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

\nSaputara<\/a> is a
\nbreath of fresh air, lush with flowers, a pristine lake, thick forest covers
\nand a peaceful location – a perfect weekend getaway. I stayed at the very
\ncomfortable and beautiful Aakar Lords Inn and had a memorable view of the lake.
\nSaputara offers a variety of experiences \u2013 trekking, mesmerizing sunsets,
\ntemples, museums and boating. I had a lovely time walking by the town, relaxing
\nand enjoying the scenic view it offered. The drive to Saputara crossing the
\nDang Forest is spectacular. <\/span><\/div>\n

\n5)\u00a0Valsad: For a glimpse of the Arabian Sea<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

\nValsad is a popular town in Gujarat and has quite a few touristy
\nattractions. Tithal
\nBeach<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is a tourist
\nattraction in the coastal region of Valsad, overlooking the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Arabian Sea<\/span><\/a><\/span>. There are some grand temples such as Shri Sai Baba and
\nShri Swami Narayan along the sea coast. Food
\nstalls \u2013 bhajiyas, dabeli, coconut water, dense forests, great architecture and
\na walk by the sea sums up my monsoon visit to this region of Valsad.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
