SCANNER \u2013 FORCES, REACTIONS, DEFLECTIONS<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Robin \u2018Scanner<\/a>\u2018 Rimbaud<\/em><\/strong> is one of the veterans of the ambient\/electronic scene. With almost 100 album releases to his name, and collaborations with artists like Michael Nyman, Laurie Anderson, <\/em>and Pauline Oliveiros <\/em>(to name only a few), I can safely assume he needs no further introduction. <\/p>\n

For his new album Forces, Reactions, Deflections<\/em>, <\/strong>released on the Quiet Details<\/a><\/em> label, he avoided the use of synthesizers, but recorded the \u201dresonant clangs, echoes, and whispers of a stainless steel staircase at home\u201d, <\/em>\u00fasing a geophone seismic microphone \u2018and the gentle assistance of the occasional resonant filter and sample software\u2019<\/em>, thus \u2018transforming everyday architecture into an unexpected orchestra\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n

I cannot claim to be familiar with all of Scanner<\/em><\/strong>\u2018s <\/em>work, but the soundscapes on this album are probably among his deepest, and sometimes also darkest, work.
Ambient, Musique Concrete, Acousmatic, Electro-Acoustic \u2026 it\u2019s all of that.
It definitely takes a highly creative mind to transform found sounds from your everyday environment into music like this, where \u201chighly textured drones meet distance pulses; metallic fragments merge with hauntingly evocative melody.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Forces, Reactions, Deflections<\/em><\/strong> is the 40th album release on the Quiet Details<\/em> label, the label that started in 2023 and has established itself as one of the most important labels for ambient music (or: for music with \u2018quiet details\u2019).
Released as a CD (with an artwork fine print) and as a digital download.<\/p>\n
