For aviation enthusiasts and Star Wars<\/em> fans alike, the bright gold gleam of All Nippon Airways\u2019 (ANA) C-3PO\u2122 ANA JET<\/strong> has been impossible to miss in skies over Japan and beyond. But after years of delighting passengers and spotters, the aircraft\u2019s story is about to come to a memorable close.<\/p>\n

ANA has confirmed the final scheduled flights<\/strong> for the Boeing 777-200ER<\/strong> adorned in the C-3PO livery \u2014 marking the end of one of the most beloved aircraft liveries in modern aviation history. This is your guide to what\u2019s happening, when, and where you might still see this unique jet before it departs the active fleet.<\/p>\n

The C-3PO ANA JET first entered service as part of ANA\u2019s unique Star Wars<\/em> Project \u2014 a collaboration with Lucasfilm and Disney that painted aircraft in special Star Wars<\/em> character liveries and offered immersive experiences onboard. While ANA has operated several such jets over the years, including R2-D2 and BB-8\u2013themed aircraft, the C-3PO jet has been a standout thanks to its striking gold livery and high-visibility presence at airports across Japan and internationally.<\/p>\n

With the Star Wars<\/em> Project winding down after a decade, ANA announced that the final flight of its R2-D2\u2013themed 787-9 took place in August 2025. The C-3PO jet\u2019s farewell was always planned for later \u2014 and that time is now nearly here.<\/p>\n

Final Flights Announced \u2014 January 7\u20139, 2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n

On December 5, 2025<\/strong>, ANA detailed the retirement schedule for the C-3PO ANA JET, confirming that it will operate three days of special flights<\/strong> between January 7 and January 9, 2026<\/strong>. These flights have been carefully planned to give as many fans and passengers as possible the chance to see or fly on this iconic aircraft one last time.<\/p>\n

Over these three days, the jet will operate a variety of scheduled domestic routes from Tokyo\u2019s Haneda Airport (HND)<\/strong> to cities including Osaka (Itami)<\/strong>, Sapporo (New Chitose)<\/strong>, and Fukuoka<\/strong> \u2014 touching on some of Japan\u2019s most popular destinations.<\/p>\n

The final flight in this farewell series is slated for January 9, 2026<\/strong>, with flight NH270<\/strong> departing Fukuoka at 19:55<\/strong> and arriving back at Tokyo Haneda at 21:30<\/strong>, after which the aircraft\u2019s commercial flying days will be over.<\/p>\n

The C-3PO ANA JET has been part of a small but unforgettable fleet of Star Wars\u2013branded aircraft. The Star Wars<\/em> Project began in 2015<\/strong> with R2-D2\u2013themed Dreamliner service and expanded to include BB-8 and combined motif jets over the years. While most of those aircraft have already been retired, the C-3PO jet remained in active service longest \u2014 a final ambassador of the collaboration between ANA, Lucasfilm, and Disney.<\/p>\n

As ANA\u2019s official project website notes, the Star Wars<\/em> Jets initiative will formally draw to a close on March 31, 2026<\/strong>, but with C-3PO scheduled for retirement in January, for many this three-day farewell will truly signal the end of the era.<\/p>\n

Following the last operational flights, ANA is expected to host an official \u201cANA STAR WARS\u2122 PROJECT Final Event\u201d<\/strong> on January 10, 2026<\/strong> at a hangar at Tokyo Haneda Airport. The gathering will allow fans and Mileage Club members the unique opportunity to view the C-3PO ANA JET up close, alongside exhibits celebrating the Star Wars<\/em> Jets program. A limited number of slots will be available through a lottery system for ANA Mileage Club members, adding an exclusive twist to the farewell.<\/p>\n
