{"id":339927,"date":"2025-12-12T02:25:32","date_gmt":"2025-12-12T02:25:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/alcohol\/exclusive-news-and-research-on-the-wine-spirits-and-beer-business-181\/"},"modified":"2025-12-12T02:25:32","modified_gmt":"2025-12-12T02:25:32","slug":"exclusive-news-and-research-on-the-wine-spirits-and-beer-business-181","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=339927","title":{"rendered":"Exclusive news and research on the wine, spirits and beer business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<h2>Frey Ranch Co-Founder Weighs In On The Changing Whiskey Market<\/h2>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"posted\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shankennewsdaily.com\/2025\/12\/10\/\" title=\"Click to see that day's daily archive\">December 10, 2025<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Upscale American whiskey maker Frey Ranch has seen strong growth this year, and continues to amplify its message of \u201cfarm-to-glass\u201d distilling in new markets around the country.<span id=\"more-38807\"\/> Frey Ranch\u2019s portfolio, which will finish the year at around 18,000 cases in the U.S., is made from grains grown on the Frey family\u2019s farm in Fallon, Nevada. Frey\u2019s core offerings ($40 and up) include a Straight Bourbon, a Farm Strength (cask strength) Bourbon, and a rye. Three of the craft distiller\u2019s whiskies have received 91 points or higher from Whisky Advocate\u2019s tasting panel in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>Colby Frey, co-founder, tells SND that he expects headwinds to continue for the broader craft whiskey segment, but is confident that Frey Ranch will remain an outperformer in 2026. \u201cBecause of this downturn in consumption both domestically and globally, pricing will also contract, especially with the more established whiskey brands looking to grow volume,\u201d he says. \u201cBrand authenticity and a finely tuned narrative will be paramount to both trade and consumer traction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Frey also expects more age-stated whiskies to hit the market owing to the industry\u2019s robust stocks. \u201cThe new product pipeline across the whiskey board will see a spike of 10-plus year age statements and blends, which may have an impact on overall pricing\u2014especially for high-value LTOs that lean specifically into older whiskey as a point of differentiation,\u201d he notes.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>American whiskey brands will also seek out new revenue streams in the coming year as they look to weather tougher consumer trends, says Frey, including selling used barrels to the highest bidder and repurposing spent grains as examples. There will also be an increased focus on \u201cestate distilling,\u201d in which Frey Ranch has been a pioneer, he predicts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhiskey fans are starting to look at ingredients in the same way that wine drinkers do. If you care about the grapes, where they came from and how they were grown and harvested, why shouldn\u2019t it be the same with whiskey?\u201d he asks. The tariff situation is another factor driving this trend.
