{"id":339847,"date":"2025-12-11T23:49:26","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T23:49:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/uncategorized\/resilient-leadership-quest-leadership\/"},"modified":"2025-12-11T23:49:26","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T23:49:26","slug":"resilient-leadership-quest-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=339847","title":{"rendered":"Resilient Leadership &#8211; Quest Leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\n                            Are you a Leadership &#8216;Know-er&#8217; or &#8216;Do-er&#8217;?                        <\/p>\n<div class=\"single-post-image\">\n                            <img src=\"https:\/\/www.questleadership.co.uk\/app\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Adaptive-Capability-770x410.jpeg\" class=\"attachment-featured-image size-featured-image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/>\n                        <\/div>\n<p>I was recently listening to a couple of authors extolling the virtues of their <i>\u2018ground-breaking resilient leadership model\u2019<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u2026. <\/span><\/i>and (\u00a320.95) book.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I wondered whether this really was a new and emerging style of leadership, with some solid empirical research to back it up. \u00a0Or simply some clever product positioning aimed at a world of work experiencing the pain of volatility, uncertainty, complexity &amp; ambiguity.<\/p>\n<p>For me, personal resilience is a precursor of strong leadership.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Without resilience, the resolve, bold thinking, personal energy and support network required to start a leadership journey will be missing.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Developing Personal Resilience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In my coaching practice I am spending more time helping my clients to develop the resilience to tackle the challenges they face.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I find the framework developed by Kelly Ann McKnight (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theresilienceway.ca\">The Resilience Way<\/a>) to be an extremely practical and effective tool for this.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It is only once the pillars of resilience are in place that the leadership journey can start.<\/p>\n<p>Leadership is leadership.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>There are numerous examples of both good and bad leadership to examine.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The theory is not difficult.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>There is no shortage of researched models and viable development frameworks out there for us to learn about.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The tough part is \u2026 the practicing; the making mistakes; the asking for feedback; the learning from trying; the implementing the learning\u2026\u2026 The <i>doing<\/i> of leadership!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Quest Approach to Developing Leaders<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At Quest, we definitely subscribe to the 70:20:10 approach which holds that 70% of knowledge comes from experience of trying to lead, 20% from coaching, mentoring or other interactions and only 10% from a formal education event.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Our involvement with our client businesses reflects this.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We provide sufficient framework for everyone to be taking a similar approach. Then, we coach the leaders to apply their knowledge to the challenges that their organisation is facing and to learn from their experiences of trying to lead change.<\/p>\n<p>So do we need yet another book?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Is another take on leadership helpful?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It probably depends if you are a spectator or protagonist \u2026 A <i>know-er<\/i> or a <i>do-er.<\/i><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>One things for certain \u2013 a \u2018Non-Resilient Leadership\u2019 is not a book that will sell well.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>What do you think?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you a Leadership &#8216;Know-er&#8217; or &#8216;Do-er&#8217;?
