It has a buttery topping with just the right seasonings. These fillets turn out flaky, tender, and full of flavor with no frying. If you\u2019re new to cooking catfish or just looking for a simple way to enjoy it, this one\u2019s for you.<\/p>\n<p>Here in the South, one thing we love is fresh catfish! And while my first instinct may be to fry it, baking catfish is really just as delicious.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m just going to say this: I love fried food. There. I\u2019ve said it and I meant it, too. There\u2019s just not much better in this world to me than a perfectly cooked piece of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lanascooking.com\/real-simple-fried-chicken\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">fried chicken<\/a>. Or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lanascooking.com\/country-fried-steak\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">country fried steak<\/a>. Or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lanascooking.com\/fried-catfish-with-cheese-grits\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">fried catfish<\/a>. I could go on and on.<\/p>\n<p> That having been said, I also know that deep frying isn\u2019t the most healthful way to cook. Which really stinks because it tastes so good!<\/p>\n<p>I also realize that part of\u00a0my love of fried food is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lanascooking.com\/category\/heritage-recipes\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">cultural<\/a>. When I was growing up, an everyday meal consisted of some kind of meat \u2014more often than not fried \u2014accompanied by two or three vegetables and bread. The proverbial \u201cmeat and three\u201d that you often see in more rural areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>\u2014 This post was originally published on January 21, 2011.
