\u201cWithout the presence of the Holy Spirit, the church becomes just another social institution, and, usually, not a particularly good one.<\/p>\n

Our central and preeminent purpose in our lives and in our corporate gatherings must be to connect deeply with Him!<\/p>\n

In many church meetings, the Holy Spirit is not allowed to have His way. We pray, \u201cGod do what you want to do today,\u201d and then go on meticulously following our own preplanned agenda.<\/p>\n

And if He does override us and show up anyway, we are embarrassed and awkward and quickly shut Him down.<\/p>\n

Such meetings should be better described as \u201csocial gatherings\u201d and not as meetings of the Bride of Christ.<\/p>\n

Social gatherings, of course, are fine. But they\u2019re not the mighty Church that Jesus died for and that the nations desperately need!\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

As followers of Christ, our generosity flows not from obligation or abundance, but from our union with the One who gave everything for us. In Christ, we are set free from fear, scarcity and self-protection. We are empowered to live a lifestyle of <\/span>whole-life generosity<\/a><\/em> \u2013 giving our time, talents, treasure, testimony, trust and thankfulness in service to God and others.<\/span><\/p>\n

When a church embraces this kind of generosity, it becomes a vibrant reflection of the life of God. Generosity is no longer a fundraising tactic or a financial strategy \u2013 it becomes the culture, the very expression of the Church\u2019s life in Christ. This is seen beautifully in the churches of Nagaland, India.<\/p>\n

Nagaland, a hilly state in Northeastern India with a population of approximately two million, is home to diverse tribal communities where over 87% of the population identify as Christian. The state boasts a high literacy rate of 80%, yet nearly 20% of its people live in poverty. Despite economic challenges, Nagas are known for their vibrant culture, deep community support and extraordinary generosity.<\/p>\n

Historically, Nagas have supported one another through voluntary contributions during times of illness, death or crisis. When someone is sick, medical expenses are often covered by the freewill offerings of community members \u2013 not because they are wealthy, but because generosity is embedded in their culture. This practice of communal giving carried over and found new expression when Christianity came to the region.<\/p>\n
