This would allow the infrared components of the TrueDepth system to function beneath the screen, letting Face ID work without the visible cutout found on current iPhone models.<\/p>\n<p>The technique resembles methods already used elsewhere in the industry, where micro-perforated or nano-patterned glass is applied to improve infrared transmission in a targeted area above sensor hardware.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the testing, the Dynamic Island isn\u2019t expected to disappear.
