Badr Mohammed Al\u2011Meer in this role.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While thanking Al-Meer for his service, Qatari flag carrier has not provided any specific reasons have been provided for this rather unexpected management change.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Al\u2011Khater was until present Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Hamad International Airport in Doha (DOH), which is Qatar Airways\u2019 global hub. Prior to that, Al\u2011Khater had also held several senior roles at state-owned oil company QatarEnergy (previously known as Qatar Petroleum).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The relatively short tenure of Al\u2011Meer as CEO of the airline contrasts with that of his predecessor, Akbar Al Baker, who served\u00a0in that role for 27 years,\u00a0from November 1996 <a href=\"http:\/\/-al-baker-step-down\" title=\"\">until November 2023<\/a>, a period in which Qatar Airways became one of the world\u2019s largest carriers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Qatar Airways Group announced, on December 7, 2025, a change at its helm.\u00a0 Hamad Ali Al\u2011Khater has become the airline\u2019s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective December 7, 2025, replacing Engr.
