<\/figure>\nDiddy<\/a>\u00a0has hit out at\u00a050 Cent<\/a>\u00a0and Netflix\u2019s new docuseries\u00a0Sean Combs: The Reckoning<\/a><\/em>, labelling it a \u201cshameful hit piece\u201d that uses \u201cstolen footage that was never authorized for release.\u201d<\/p>\n Shortly before the four-part series, which \u201cunpacks the shocking allegations behind [Diddy] and his Bad Boy empire, spanning decades of his life and career,\u201d premiered on Netflix on Tuesday (December 2), a spokesperson for the incarcerated mogul issued a statement dismissing the documetary\u2019s credibility.<\/p>\n Puffy\u2019s team takes particular issue with the inclusion of never-before-seen footage recorded in the days leading up to his September 2024 arrest, showing the Bad Boy boss strategizing with his legal team over a phone call.<\/p>\n \u201cWe need to find someone who will work with us who has worked in the dirtiest of dirty businesses \u2026 We are losing,\u201d Combs, who at the time had been hit with a wave of sexual assault lawsuits and was soon to be indicted on sex trafficking and racketeering charges, says in the clip.<\/p>\n \u201cAs Netflix and CEO Ted Sarandos know, Mr. Combs has been amassing footage since he was 19 to tell his own story, in his own way. It is fundamentally unfair, and illegal, for Netflix to misappropriate that work,\u201d Diddy\u2019s spokesperson said.<\/p>\n \u201cNetflix is plainly desperate to sensationalize every minute of Mr. Combs\u2019s life, without regard for truth, in order to capitalize on a never-ending media frenzy. If Netflix cared about truth or about Mr. Combs\u2019s legal rights, it would not be ripping private footage out of context \u2013 including conversations with his lawyers that were never intended for public viewing. No rights in that material were ever transferred to Netflix or any third party.\u201d<\/p>\n In response, Netflix quoted\u00a0Sean Combs: The Reckoning<\/em>\u00a0director Alexandria Stapleton who said: \u201cIt came to us, we obtained the footage legally and have the necessary rights. We moved heaven and earth to keep the filmmaker\u2019s identity confidential.<\/p>\n \u201cOne thing about Sean Combs is that he\u2019s always filming himself, and it\u2019s been an obsession throughout the decades. We also reached out to Sean Combs\u2019 legal team for an interview and comment multiple times, but did not hear back.\u201d<\/p>\n Diddy\u2019s rep also slammed Netflix for involving 50 Cent, a long-standing rival of Diddy who they say has a \u201cpersonal vendetta\u201d against the mogul, as an executive producer of the docuseries.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
