This Week<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Markets rose this week, as December rate cut odds continued their rebound to 85+%<\/a> now from a low 30% last week for a few reasons:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Fed Governor Waller (again) advocated for a December cut<\/strong> since \u201cmost\u2026 data [show] the labor market is soft. It\u2019s continuing to weaken<\/a>.\u201d<\/li>\n
  2. Consumers agree as the Consumer Confidence survey showed <\/strong>fading labor market sentiment<\/strong><\/a> (and the worst Confidence since April).<\/li>\n
  3. The Fed\u2019s \u201cBeige Book\u201d of regional activity confirmed that view, showing \u201cemployment <\/strong>declined slightly<\/strong><\/a>\u201d in November.<\/li>\n
  4. Soft core producer price inflation suggests core PCE inflation could slow in September<\/strong> since CPI and PPI components feed into PCE, easing inflation worries a little.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In a bit of a \u201cbad news is good news\u201d week, the Nasdaq-100\u00ae had its best week in over\u00a0six months, gaining +5% (blue line), and 10-year Treasury yields were down a few bps to about 4.0% (black line).<\/p>\n
