than 150 places around the world. These four airport bus services all run on different routes (so the one you\u2019ll choose will depend upon exactly where you want to go), and although the buses run to different timetables, there\u2019s 24\/7 coverage (so there\u2019ll always be at least one bus available whenever you land). For most people, the Airlink 100 will probably be the best option\u2014it runs close to Princes Street and Edinburgh\u2019s main rail &amp; bus stations. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edinburghairport.com\/transport-links\/buses-and-coaches\/edinburgh-city-bus-links\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Here\u2019s more<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Direct tram from the airport to the city centre: <\/strong>during peak hours, you\u2019ll never need to wait more than 10 minutes for a tram\u2014and because the system is easy to navigate and understand, it\u2019s a big favorite for people arriving in Edinburgh. The first daily tram leaves the airport at 06:26; the last tram leaves at 22:48. A tram from the airport to the city centre costs \u00a36.50 for adults, and \u00a33.30 for kids. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edinburghairport.com\/transport-links\/trams\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Here\u2019s more<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Taxi:<\/strong> Edinburgh Airport is only a 20-minute drive from the city centre. To get a taxi, head to the airport\u2019s East Terminus and book a taxi at the official rank (or just take an Uber). Usually, if you\u2019re coming to Edinburgh from England, this is where you\u2019ll be arriving. It links with Edinburgh Airport (by tram)\u2026 and if you\u2019re reaching Edinburgh from another part of Scotland, your train will probably <em>(though not necessarily) <\/em>arrive into Edinburgh Haymarket. Edinburgh Haymarket has direct connections to Glasgow, Fife, North Berwick, Aberdeen, and lots more places.<\/p>\n<p>Broadly speaking, train travel is the most popular and common form of long-distance travel in the UK.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"getting-to-edinburgh-by-bus\">Getting to Edinburgh by bus<\/h3>\n<p>Long-distance bus travel is pretty popular in the UK <em>(especially with younger people and budget travelers)<\/em>, cos it\u2019s WAY cheaper than taking the train. For example, if I was to book an advance ticket now to ride from Glasgow to Edinburgh, I could get one for as little as \u00a34. Megabus is usually cheaper, and they typically offer MANY more departure times. If I travel by long-distance bus in the UK, I pretty much always use Megabus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"getting-to-edinburgh-by-car\">Getting to Edinburgh By car<\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s easy to reach Edinburgh by car.<\/p>\n<p>England\u2019s roads are very safe and well-signposted, traffic isn\u2019t too bad in most places (especially inner-city traffic), and all roads are well-maintained.<\/p>\n<p>To make your journeys as fast as you can, <strong>it\u2019s best to use motorways: <\/strong>motorways are the widest, fastest UK roads, and they\u2019re labeled with an \u2018M\u2019 at the beginning of their name. The main motorways leading into Edinburgh are the M90, M8, and M9\u2014but if you\u2019re approaching Edinburgh from the south, you\u2019ll probably drive via the A1 (which heads to Edinburgh from my home city of <a href=\"https:\/\/travelness.com\/why-visit-newcastle-upon-tyne\">Newcastle<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p class=\"kt-adv-heading35050_87b0af-43 wp-block-kadence-advancedheading kt-adv-heading-has-icon\" data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading35050_87b0af-43\"><span class=\"kb-svg-icon-wrap kb-adv-heading-icon kb-svg-icon-fe_alertCircle kb-adv-heading-icon-side-left\"><default:svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" viewbox=\"0 0 24 24\" fill=\"none\" stroke=\"currentColor\" stroke-width=\"2\" stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><default:circle cx=\"12\" cy=\"12\" r=\"10\"\/><default:line x1=\"12\" y1=\"8\" x2=\"12\" y2=\"12\"\/><default:line x1=\"12\" y1=\"16\" x2=\"12\" y2=\"16\"\/><\/default:svg><\/span><span class=\"kb-adv-text-inner\"><strong><mark class=\"kt-highlight\">Note:<\/mark><\/strong> In England, speed limits are pretty strict, and change OFTEN. That said, you can only do this when you have a card that works in the UK (so, if you don\u2019t have one, it\u2019s worth getting a bank account with Monzo or Wise or Revolut or whatever).<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also possible to pay for your bus tickets with cash\u2026 but you need to have the exact change. It has only one line, with 15 stops.<\/p>\n<p>As we\u2019ve covered, you can use the tram system to get to the airport and back\u2026 but aside from that, you probably won\u2019t use it very often. And you can find some cars for as little as \u00a310 per day. If you\u2019re just traveling within Edinburgh, I don\u2019t recommend hiring a car. But if you\u2019ll be taking trips to remote and rural places (like the Pentland Hills, or parts of Loch Lomond &amp; The Trossachs National Park, or the far north of Scotland), you definitely <strong><em>should<\/em><\/strong> hire a car.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Because Edinburgh is a small and compact city, parking can be tricky<\/strong>\u2014and there are many places you aren\u2019t allowed to park (along with fines for breaking the rules). If you travel during the off-peak-period, you\u2019ll get cheaper tickets (sometimes drastically cheaper). Hooray!<\/p>\n<p><strong>And another top tip for you:<\/strong> to get the cheapest tickets, book your tickets around 6-8 weeks before you plan to travel. In my experience, that\u2019s usually when you find the lowest prices and the sweetest deals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"accessible-transportation-in-edinburgh\">Accessible transportation in Edinburgh<\/h3>\n<p>Edinburgh\u2019s public transport is more accessible than most of the world\u2019s public transport. With most railcards, you get a tasty 33% reduction on the price of whatever ticket you\u2019re buying\u2014and most railcards only cost \u00a330. So even if you\u2019ll be traveling by train only 2 or 3 times, you might still save money.
