Once again, I was asked to make a dessert for my monthly quilt group. I thought it was the perfect opportunity to bake the Double-Pear Picnic Pie, with a few changes.<\/span><\/p>\n

I had been planning on making just a half a recipe for myself, so I didn’t change that plan for my group.\u00a0 (There are only five of us, so that gave me one extra piece for the photo op.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Since I only had two pears, I added one apple to the mix which was the perfect amount.\u00a0 I already had a package of dried apples (no dried pears to be found), so I soaked them in boiling water to soften them before finely chopping them and adding them to the pear-apple filling along with some fresh lemon zest and apricot preserves.\u00a0 I did give the sour cream pie crust a try, and was pleased with the result.<\/span><\/p>\n

The pie turned out well.\u00a0 I had actually made it a few days before and stuck it in the freezer so I could bake it fresh the morning of the meeting.\u00a0 Everyone enjoyed it, so I will definitely make it again!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
