Children’s picture book about loving bedtime stories

This is another lovely book that has made its way into our home and onto my toddler’s shelf.

“Just One More!” by Tracey Corderoy and illustrated by Alison Edgson is a children’s picture book about Little Brown Bunny who loves reading bedtime stories with his family. One night, after having read every single book they have and still wanting more, Bunny has the idea of making his own book. The only problem is, he needs inspiration to make it as long as possible!

This is a lovely little book about creativity, problem-solving, consultation and finding an outcome that works for everyone. Little Brown Bunny visits his friends who are more than willing to share their interests and passions with him to help generate plot points for his own story. The dialogue in this book is really strong and lends itself to being read aloud with lots of expression. The illustrations are also really nice, soft but depicting a range of cosy home environments. From almost the first read, this book has been a hit with my toddler. One thing we have noticed is that she really likes books where the characters hug – especially if we hug in real life at the same time – and there is a particular page where a daddy wolf hugs his child that is a big hit. In fact, this book has been such a favourite that she has requested it a huge number of times while we have been doing some early toilet training and it has been very motivating to encourage sitting and waiting.

I think the only slight criticism I have is that again – despite the author and illustrator being women – there are twice as many male characters as there are female. I appreciate it’s a short children’s book, that Little Brown Bunny’s mother is described as clever, and I do love the really beautiful scene with Little Wolf, but it doesn’t pass the Bechdel test and seems to be another example of male being the default, even when the characters are animals.

A book likely to appeal to children and adults alike, I am certain it will be on the regular rotation for us for a long time to come.

!["Photo]("https://tintededges.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/wp-17636124380035789429050727778488.jpg")
