Featuring recent releases by <strong>Anth\u00e9ne<\/strong>, <strong>Benjamin Gustafsson<\/strong>, <strong>James McAlister<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Chihei Hatakeyama<\/strong>, and <strong>Jason Van Wyk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-29632\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Anth\u00e9ne \u2013 Stranger<\/h2>\n<p align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"460\" height=\"460\" style=\"position: relative; display: block; width: 460px; height: 460px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/v=2\/track=410072621\/album=1239811475\/size=large\/bgcol=333333\/linkcol=ffffff\/tracklist=false\/\" allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/anthene.bandcamp.com\/album\/stranger\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/anthene.bandcamp.com\/album\/stranger<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Stranger <\/em><\/strong>is a lovely collection of tracks that were recorded as variations on pieces performed at a recent live show by Canadian musician Brad Deschamps aka <strong>anth\u00e9ne<\/strong>. While never sounding repetitive, Deschamps remains reassuringly consistent in his thoughtful approach to blending layered soundscapes with emotionally resonant melodic progressions. The beautiful way in which the music of these two distinctive artists comes together should not be surprising though as McAlister cited Hatakeyama\u2019s textural work among his influences when discussing the release of his 2021 solo album <a href=\"https:\/\/jamesmcalistermusic.bandcamp.com\/album\/scissortail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><em>Scissortail<\/em><\/strong><\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynvegan.com\/james-mcalister-sufjan-dessners-shares-new-song-discusses-influences-on-new-solo-album\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">read more here<\/a>). In each case the pieces are paradoxically shortened yet given a more expansive feel by removing the rhythmic elements and infusing them with denser sonic layers.
