For people who wish to take the water measurements themselves, the University of California Cooperative Extension is offering in-person training to receive certification on Jan. 30 in Davis.<\/p>\n<p>At the workshop, participants can expect to<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>clarify reporting requirements for ranches.<\/li>\n<li>understand what meters are appropriate for different situations.<\/li>\n<li>learn how to determine measurement equipment accuracy.<\/li>\n<li>develop an understanding of measurement weirs.<\/li>\n<li>learn how to calculate and report volume from flow data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The training is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 in the Valley Room at the UC Agriculture and Natural Resources Building at 2801 Second Street, Davis, CA 95616.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are limiting the number participants for the water measurement training to 30 people per session,\u201d said Larry Forero, UC Cooperative Extension livestock and natural resources advisor emeritus. \u201cIf you need this training, please register soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pre-registration is required and the fee is $35. Regulatory requirements for measurement and reporting are available on the State Water Resources Control Board\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ucanr.acemlna.com\/lt.php?x=3DZy~GDKJISg6p38y_9FURRs1HImkNIkj~Y4XHDFJXHK550qzEy.0OFs1H_ziN92lfYwbHHEI3Ca\">Reporting and Measurement Regulation<\/a>\u00a0webpage. The legislation requires that installation and certification of measurement methods for diversion (or storage) greater than or equal to 100-acre feet annually be approved by an engineer\/contractor\/professional.<\/p>\n<p>California Cattlemen\u2019s Association worked with Assemblyman Bigelow to allow a self-certification option.
