Over-spending probably isn\u2019t your problem. <\/h4>\n

Debt probably isn\u2019t your problem.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The issue almost always lies in our hearts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The truth is, there\u2019s more than enough money in the world to meet our needs\u2026 but even if we had it all, \u201cthe eyes of man are never satisfied.\u201d<\/p>\n

We see this in the story of David and Bathsheba:<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s King David, who had everything, but he still wanted more. Enough to steal, lie, commit adultery, and kill to get it.<\/p>\n

And God basically says to him, \u201cDude, if you wanted more, you could\u2019ve just asked me!\u201d<\/p>\n

So, if even kings struggle with this, what hope do we have?<\/p>\n

Even when He asked for something \u2013 like for the cup of suffering to pass from Him \u2013 He ended with a changed \u201cthy will be done\u201d outlook.<\/p>\n

And you know what?\u00a0He got what He really asked for \u2013 a changed heart.<\/strong><\/p>\n

That change of heart led Him to joyfully give His life for us\u2026 a model of our Father\u2019s extreme generosity!<\/p>\n

So here\u2019s what we need to realize in all this:<\/p>\n

If we\u2019re just trying to budget better or spend less without addressing our hearts, we\u2019re missing the point.<\/h2>\n

We\u2019ll keep chasing after what we think will make us happy (spending) or provide safety and stability (hoarding).<\/p>\n

But if we let Jesus speak to our hearts and change us, real transformation happens.<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Is it investing? What\u2019s driving that desire \u2013 Security? Freedom? Status?<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Dreaming of a vacation? Is it about rest, adventure, or how you look on social media?<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Paying off debt? Is it about peace of mind or proving something to yourself or others?<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Eyeing a new house? Is it about comfort, space for family, or impressing the neighbors?<\/p>\n

Take a moment to really dig into the \u2018why\u2019 behind your financial goals.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t edit, don\u2019t shame yourself, and don\u2019t think about the nice Sunday school answer of what you\u00a0should<\/em>\u00a0say\u2026<\/p>\n

Reshaping our hearts has to start with telling the truth about what we\u00a0really<\/em>\u00a0want:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cLord, I really want to go on this vacation because I wish I had more meaning and excitement in my life. Can you show me how to live a more meaningful and exciting life?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Just like that.<\/p>\n

When we can be honest with God, our spending patterns naturally change.<\/h2>\n

So let\u2019s ask Him for a heart change!<\/p>\n

To show us where our motives might be off and to give us His perspective on our finances.<\/p>\n
