It started with a nice but ominous sunrise (<em>red sky in the morning, shepherd\u2019s warning<\/em>) and the weather got worse from then on.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80815\" src=\"https:\/\/myshetland.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/My-Shetland-395.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\"\/><\/p>\n<p>So, these photos are from February 2017 when Daisy and I went to Norway with a Norwegian friend to see the market and horse event at R\u00f8rosmartnan.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously I took my camera and had a wonderful time indulging all my main interests \u2013 shopping, horses and taking photos.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80794\" src=\"https:\/\/myshetland.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/My-Shetland-375.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"480\"\/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80795\" src=\"https:\/\/myshetland.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/My-Shetland-376.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/myshetland.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/My-Shetland-376.jpg 600w, https:\/\/myshetland.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/My-Shetland-376-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\"\/><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cR\u00f8ros is is a town in Tr\u00f8ndelag county, Norway, known for its historic copper mining, traditional wooden buildings, and status as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located in the interior uplands of the country, it is one of Norway\u2019s coldest places and has a rich history dating back to the 17th century.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I can vouch that it was very cold but good clothing solves all problems and we came prepared.\u00a0 We are from Shetland, after all.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80796\" src=\"https:\/\/myshetland.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/My-Shetland-377.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"480\"\/><\/p>\n<p>It was a busy place but folk were friendly and helpful and we wandered around just looking at everything.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80812\" src=\"https:\/\/myshetland.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/My-Shetland-393.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"\/><\/p>\n<p>I loved it.\u00a0 It was very pretty.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80798\" src=\"https:\/\/myshetland.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/My-Shetland-379.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"440\"\/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80799\" src=\"https:\/\/myshetland.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/My-Shetland-380.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The horse bit of the festival was opened with traditional dancers \u2013 it was a winter painting by Pieter Breughel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80800\" src=\"https:\/\/myshetland.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/My-Shetland-381.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"569\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Next the reindeer arrived.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-80801\" src=\"https:\/\/myshetland.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/My-Shetland-382.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\"\/><\/p>\n<p>They were all very well behaved and I can\u2019t begin to tell you just how much I wondered if I could bring one home.\u00a0 Just a baby one.
