So starting with the truth I wish I would have known earlier:<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Your credit score is NOT a sign of financial strength.<\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s actually a scorecard for how well you\u2019ve played the lender\u2019s game.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve been trained to chase a number that was never designed to help us win \u2014 only to keep us borrowing, paying interest, and staying \u201cjust responsible enough\u201d to stay stuck.<\/p>\n<p>And when you finally do the wise thing \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/seedtime.com\/credit-card-debt\/\">pay off debt<\/a>, cut up the cards, and walk away \u2014 the system punishes you for it.<\/p>\n<p>Why? <strong>B<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ecause you stopped being profitable to them.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">They Built a Game Where Debt Is the Goal \u2014 and You\u2019re Supposed to Feel Like You\u2019re Winning<\/h3>\n<p>And so a credit score isn\u2019t about wealth. It\u2019s about debt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You get rewarded for:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Keeping credit lines open (even when they tempt you)<\/li>\n<li>Making minimum payments (not getting out of debt)<\/li>\n<li>Using credit regularly (so they can charge you interest)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>You <em>don\u2019t<\/em> get rewarded for:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In fact, if you close your final credit card, your score might drop \u2014 and most people panic.<\/p>\n<p>Not because they\u2019re in a worse financial position\u2026 but because they were taught that the number <em>is<\/em> the truth.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here\u2019s how broken this is:<\/h3>\n<p>I remember hearing <a href=\"https:\/\/seedtime.com\/seedtime-dave-ramsey\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"52170\">Dave Ramsey<\/a> point out once that he could buy an entire apartment complex <em>with cash<\/em>, but because he doesn\u2019t carry debt or play by the credit system, his score is technically so \u201cbad\u201d that he couldn\u2019t even get approved to rent one of the units.<\/p>\n<p>So how absurd is it that you can <em>own the building outright<\/em>, but not qualify to live there?<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s how upside-down the system is.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">And fear is the Glue That Keeps the System Together<\/h3>\n<p>You\u2019ve probably heard the warnings:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cIf you close that account, your score will drop.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cYou\u2019ll never qualify for a mortgage without it.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cYou have to use credit to build credit.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of it is designed to keep you anxious and dependent. But how different does this sound\u2026<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cDo not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.\u201d \u2013Romans 12:2<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is the pattern of the world \u2014 fear, pressure, control. But God\u2019s system leads to peace, margin, and <a href=\"https:\/\/seedtime.com\/tff\">freedom<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The World\u2019s System vs. God\u2019s Way<\/h2>\n<p>Let\u2019s zoom out.<\/p>\n<p>The credit score is just one piece of a much bigger puzzle \u2014 a whole system the world has built around money that\u2019s rooted in fear, pressure, and endless striving.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Here\u2019s what the world\u2019s system produces:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Fear-based decisions.<\/strong> You\u2019re always second-guessing \u2014 \u201cWill this hurt my score? What if I can\u2019t qualify? Should I just open another account?\u201d Fear drives everything.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chronic stress.<\/strong> Even if you\u2019re \u201cdoing well,\u201d you never feel secure. There\u2019s always a payment due, an interest rate rising, a bill waiting.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Comparison and shame.<\/strong> You measure your success by what other people have (even if they\u2019re drowning in debt). If you\u2019re not upgrading, you\u2019re falling behind.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dependency.<\/strong> You feel stuck \u2014 like you <em>need<\/em> the system. You believe you can\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/seedtime.com\/used-car-buying-tips\/\">buy a car<\/a>, get a home, or move forward without playing their game.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Performance pressure.<\/strong> Your worth is tied to a number. Not how wise or faithful you are \u2014 just how good you look on paper.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And here\u2019s the wild part: the system makes you feel like the problem. Like <em>you\u2019re<\/em> not disciplined enough. <em>You\u2019re<\/em> not savvy enough. <em>You<\/em> just don\u2019t know how to \u201cleverage\u201d debt the right way.<\/p>\n<p>But the truth is, the system isn\u2019t broken. It\u2019s rigged.<\/p>\n<p>It was never built to lead you to peace. It was built to keep you on the hook.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>God\u2019s system is radically different.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>You\u2019re not defined by a score.<\/strong> You\u2019re a steward of what He\u2019s entrusted to you \u2014 not a pawn in someone else\u2019s profit plan.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Money is a tool, not a trap.<\/strong> You manage it with intention, not anxiety.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Contentment is strength.<\/strong> You\u2019re not chasing the next upgrade. You\u2019re living in peace and purpose right where you are.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Freedom is the goal.<\/strong> You\u2019re not tied to lenders. You\u2019re available to be generous, flexible, and ready when God says move.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wisdom and faithfulness matter most.<\/strong> God doesn\u2019t reward flashy. He honors faithful.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>One system profits off your bondage.<\/p>\n<p>The other invites you into freedom.<\/p>\n<p>God doesn\u2019t need you to impress a bank.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>He\u2019s not concerned with whether you\u2019ve got an 820 or a 520.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>What He <em>does<\/em> care about is how you\u2019re managing what you\u2019ve been given.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With wisdom. With faithfulness. With eternity in mind.<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t need a score to be trusted. You need character and clarity.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s what matters. That\u2019s what lasts.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Illusion of Winning Is Still Losing<\/h2>\n<p>The whole system is designed to make you feel like you\u2019re getting ahead\u2026 as long as you stay inside the lines.<\/p>\n<p>You pay off one card? They raise your limit.<\/p>\n<p>You make payments on time? They offer you more cards.<\/p>\n<p>They keep the carrot just far enough ahead to keep you running.<\/p>\n<p>But let\u2019s be clear:<\/p>\n<p>Freedom isn\u2019t found in a high score.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s found in <em>not needing one at all<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So, Should You Just Ignore It?<\/h2>\n<p>I wish the answer were a simple \u201cyes\u201d. But it\u2019s not that simple.<\/p>\n<p>By God\u2019s grace, Linda and I have gotten to the place where I genuinely don\u2019t care what my score is because we don\u2019t need it.<\/p>\n<p>We don\u2019t have any debt and never plan on borrowing again. <em>(This is my prayer for you by the way).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But it took us a long time to get to this point, and the fact is, we still live in a world where your credit score affects things like insurance rates, rentals, and even job applications.<\/p>\n<p>So you can\u2019t always opt out cold turkey.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>But you <em>can<\/em> stop letting it call the shots.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>So stop obsessing over the number.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t let fear of your score keep you in debt.<\/li>\n<li>Build actual financial strength \u2014 savings, peace, margin.<\/li>\n<li>Make decisions based on wisdom, not how it\u2019ll \u201clook\u201d on your report.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can work within the system without bowing to it.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">God Didn\u2019t Call You to Play by Their Rules<\/h2>\n<p>You weren\u2019t created to be a good little borrower.<\/p>\n<p>You were created to live in freedom.<\/p>\n<p>Your worth doesn\u2019t come from being \u201ccreditworthy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Your legacy isn\u2019t defined by your ability to <a href=\"https:\/\/seedtime.com\/free-debt-snowball-calculator\/\">manage debt.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Your financial future isn\u2019t secured by a score \u2014 <strong>it\u2019s built by faithfulness, discipline, and bold trust in God\u2019s ways<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You can walk away from their game.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/seedtime.com\/credit-card-debt\/\">You can pay off the card,<\/a> close the account, and take the hit to your score \u2014 knowing it\u2019s a hit to a system that never served you anyway.<\/p>\n<p>And as you do, you\u2019ll find something no credit score can offer: peace.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cIt is for freedom that Christ has set us free.\u201d \u2013 Galatians 5:1<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That freedom includes your money.<\/p>\n<p>It includes your mindset.<\/p>\n<p>And it starts the moment you stop letting a broken system tell you what \u201cwinning\u201d looks like.<\/p>\n<p>Your friend and coach,<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"117\" height=\"73\" src=\"https:\/\/seedtime.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Bob-sign.jpg\" alt=\"Bob sign\" class=\"wp-image-12257\" title=\"The credit score is a scam \u2014 and It\u2019s Keeping You in Financial Bondage 1\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ok, so if you can\u2019t tell from that title, this is going to be an article where I am not pulling any punches and sharing an uncommon opinion.
