by ~dhh for dohiphop.com • 2025

Every so often, something arrives that cuts through the noise — raw, unfiltered, and real. Last night, ThiNXx quietly dropped the official video for Death’s Grip (O.F. Take), and it’s already making waves among those tuned in to the frequency of honest, imperfect beauty.

This isn’t a high-budget production or a polished spectacle. It’s a moment — captured in a single take, with no crew, no edits, and no distractions. Just ThiNXx, a flickering flame, and the heavy pulse of a beat crafted by Object Frank. The result is haunting in its simplicity. Every frame hums with tension. Every silence between the lines feels deliberate, like the calm between storms.

The track itself comes from the latest Death’s Grip EP — a collection that leans into reflection, exhaustion, and the strange resilience we find in creative release. ThiNXx raps like someone with nothing left to prove — words pouring out like smoke signals from a quiet battlefield. There’s pain here, yes. But also purpose. A need to mark the moment. To breathe through it. To share the weight of it all, one bar at a time.

And the video? Minimal, but layered with meaning. A single flickering flame at the edge of the frame, casting shadows on a face that’s seen sleepless nights and endless rewrites. There are no flashy cuts. No choreographed chaos. Just presence. Stillness. Truth. It’s the kind of work that reminds you why this music matters. Why it sticks with you long after the beat fades.

This isn’t a bid for viral fame. It’s a quiet offering for the misfits, the overthinkers, the ones still carrying the weight. If you missed the premiere, don’t stress. The video is live now, waiting for you. Click play. Sit with it. Let it speak to the parts of you that don’t always have words.
