Emirates Airline, already Boeing\u2019s largest customer for the airplane, now has 270 777Xs on order. This represents 43% of the firm orders once added to Boeing\u2019s backlog.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_48402\" style=\"width: 811px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/leehamnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/EK-777-9.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-48402\" class=\"wp-image-48402 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/leehamnews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/EK-777-9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"801\" height=\"414\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-48402\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Rendering of an Emirates Airline Boeing 777-9. Credit: Boeing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Emirates simultaneously said it will support a feasibility study to stretch the 777-9 to a larger capacity 777-10. Airline president Tim Clark has been urging Boeing to launch the larger derivative.<\/p>\n<p>Also at the air show, Airbus Commercial airplanes CEO Christian Scherer said Airbus is revisiting a study whether to stretch the A350-1000 (the same size as the Boeing 777-300ER) to a larger \u201cA350-2000\u201d model. This would be the same size as the 777-9.<\/p>\n<p>However, don\u2019t look for Airbus to launch a stretch any time soon, if at all. Airbus previously studied stretching the -1000 and decided the market couldn\u2019t support two airplanes the size of the 777-9.
