With Google having its hand in almost every aspect of your digital life, it’s no surprise that Google needs a massive workforce to continue with its innovation and dominance in the tech sector.

1. Become a Google Certified Publisher

If you create top-notch content and have a lot of website traffic, you can become a Google Certified Publisher with Raptive (formerly AdThrive). I’ve been working with Raptive since 2015, and they are amazing! I never really thought I could earn good money from an ad network, but was I wrong. Today, my ad revenue is about a third of my total blogging income.

With Raptive, you must apply for consideration, and you must meet the following requirements:

Once approved for the program, Raptive will develop an ad strategy for your site and place, monitor, and optimize your ads to maximize earnings. Payments are distributed once a month.

Of course, Raptive isn’t the only Google Certified Publisher; here is a list of other Certified Google Publishing Partners.

Yes, it’s true! Google educates (through the Coursera platform) individuals in the areas of Data Analytics, Project Management, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing and e-Commerce, IT Support, and UX Design. These online certification programs can be completed in as little as 3 to 6 months and require approximately 10 hours per week. Best of all, you don’t need any experience to get started, and according to Google, the median entry-level salary across the certificate fields is $96,000 annually.

After you complete your certified training program, you’ll also get access to CareerCircle, where you’ll get access to top tech employers who offer remote opportunities, as well as personalized coaching, mock interviews, and resume-building tools.

If your end goal is to work from home with Google, getting one of their certifications can help you stand out from the crowd. You can view Google’s certification programs here.

Another remote Google-centric job is that of a Google Ads Expert, often referred to as a Paid Advertising Specialist or PPC Specialist. For these marketing positions, you’ll likely need a degree in marketing, advertising, business, or communications, and experience running paid ads on behalf of companies. Companies of all sizes hire for this position, so you can search for remote jobs on sites like Dice, The Ladders, We Work Remotely, and FlexJobs, or look at marketing and advertising agencies for these positions. If you work in marketing and want to expand your skills in this area, you can take Google’s digital marketing certification on Coursera.

Search engines, such as Google and Bing, hire individuals to work from home, reviewing the relevance of online ads in relation to the keywords entered in the search query. While Google has sophisticated algorithms to properly place ads with the correct keywords, it also employs humans to double-check that these keywords and ads are relevant.

Ad Raters are not hired directly by Google, but instead through contracted companies like TELUS Digital, Welocalize, and Datavio.ai, which hire for Bing. These positions require a high school diploma or GED, familiarity with popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter (X), Instagram, LinkedIn, and Gmail, and access to a computer, laptop, and smartphone. According to Indeed, Ad Raters earn an average hourly wage of $15.48.

One thing to note about these job openings is that they are independent contracting roles, which means you’re responsible for paying self-employment taxes, but they offer flexible work schedules.

One way to earn a little extra cash is by sharing your thoughts on products and services through the Google Opinion Rewards App (available for Android and iOS devices). For each survey you take, you earn a small stipend that you can withdraw for cash via PayPal or Google Play credits. You won’t make a lot of money with this app, but it is an easy and legit way to add a little extra cash to your wallet.

Check out this list for more ways to make money with surveys!

If you love Google products and services, Google User Experience Research can be a fun way to earn small rewards. Simply sign up as a participant, and when studies that match your profile become available, you’ll receive an invitation along with details about the reward for participating.

Research studies are conducted in various locations, including their traveling van, home offices, online, or even at your own home. Rewards are generally gift cards from major retailers and Visa. If you try this one, I’d love to hear how it goes for you!

If you have a website or blog, you can apply to be part of Google AdSense and earn money for displaying Google advertisements on your site. In my early days of blogging, I used the AdSense program and earned around $100 per month.

To qualify for this program, you’ll need to purchase your domain name and hosting, have original and high-quality content, a privacy policy, and other standard pages, and be at least 18 years of age. To see how much you can earn using the Google Ads platform, input your traffic and website niche into their earnings calculator located on the home page of their website.

If you haven’t started your blog yet, don’t worry; I have a simple, step-by-step tutorial to guide you through the process.

Google offers both in-person and remote job opportunities, hiring from around the world. When you search for these jobs on their site, add your location and check the remote-eligible job filters. You can also search by experience level, degree type, job types, organization, and keywords.

These jobs generally require equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree; they also offer opportunities for students pursuing a degree. With Google owning YouTube, Fitbit, GFiber, Waymo, Google Cloud, and more, there are positions in almost every field and occupation.

Here are some categories of remote positions with Google:

Some of the benefits of working with Google include its extensive benefits package, perks, and salary transparency. Things like health and wellness, financial well-being, flexibility and time off, family support and care, community and personal development, and extras such as resources to support your growth, productivity, and overall well-being.

Google offers a lot of information on what they are looking for in a job candidate, and one of those is a stellar resume, as this is their first look at you as a potential Googler. If you need help writing an attention-grabbing resume, be sure to check out the Ultimate Resume Template Bundle. Google offers additional job search tools and allows job seekers to sign up for alerts, so take advantage of these helpful resources.

Another remote position with Google is working as a Search Engine Evaluator. Much like the Ad Rater position, in this role, you’ll evaluate search engine results to ensure that the results are relevant and high quality. You can find these jobs on TELUS Digital and Welocalize.

According to FlexJobs, the reimbursement for these independent contracting roles is $17 per hour, and you’ll have flexible hours. Much like the Ad Rater positions, you’ll need to be web-savvy, familiar with Google products, and up-to-date on current trends. No prior experience is required for these positions; however, you must complete an online application and pass an initial assessment before working on projects.

In November of 2006, Google acquired the popular video platform YouTube, and what a crazy, smart move! Today, YouTube is the second most popular website, second only to Google itself. If you’re into video creation, you can make insane amounts of money as a YouTube video publisher. Like blogging, you’ll need to create original video content and upload it to YouTube.

To start earning money from your videos with AdSense, you’ll need to meet the following minimum qualifications:

The nice thing about making money on YouTube is that you don’t have to invest any money up front. If you have an internet connection, a smartphone with a video camera, and some talent or expertise to share, you can start creating content. In fact, many well-known musicians and celebrities have been discovered through their YouTube content.

Like blogging, you can monetize your channel with various methods, such as affiliate marketing, product and merch sales, and sponsorships. Also, you don’t need a degree or a certain number of years of experience. If you have the drive and passion for creating video content, this can be a lucrative and fun way to work from home with Google!

While there are many legitimate ways to work from home directly and indirectly with Google, you need to be aware of scammers promoting fake opportunities using Google’s name.

Not too long ago, one company promoted a deceptive opportunity called Easy Google Profit, which had no connection to Google. It was a get-rich-quick scheme that required an upfront payment for vague information.

When searching for work from home jobs, be sure to do your due diligence and research the company extensively by reading reviews on sites like Glassdoor, Indeed, Trustpilot, and the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Legitimate companies will list out your work tasks, so if a job description is vague, this could be a red flag that it’s a scam. Also, look for a professional email address; scammers tend to use free Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo addresses to contact unsuspecting job seekers.

Google isn’t the only tech company that hires remote workers in a variety of fields and occupations. Here are some other reputable tech companies to explore for remote job offerings.

If you want to be involved with a company that is changing the tech landscape, there are many flexible jobs and ways to get involved with Google. Whether you have a degree in computer science or a related technical field and want to work full-time, or you’re a student or stay-at-home parent who wants to make a little extra cash, there’s a remote Google job for you!

Want more jobs like this?
