It was for everyone. The only saving grace for me was that I was able to be home with you and Sampson in your last days.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Binky2.jpg\"><br \/>\n\t\t<span class=\"pibfi_pinterest \"><br \/>\n\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19689\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Binky2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Binky2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Binky2-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"xc_pin\" onclick=\"pin_this(event, 'http:\/\/pinterest.com\/pin\/create\/button\/?url=https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/2021\/06\/14\/my-darling-delilah\/&amp;media=https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Binky2.jpg&amp;description=My Darling Delilah')\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t<\/span><br \/>\n\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We helped Sampson to the bridge in May, it was horrible for me as you well know. \u00a0But you saved me. \u00a0You got me up in the morning, gave me purpose to my day. You snuggled me at night and your fur caught my tears as I cried for my boy.<\/p>\n<p>I always said you wanted to be an only dog and I\u2019m truly grateful you had that opportunity. For seven months, you were the center of our world.<\/p>\n<p>On your gotcha day, long, long ago, I I promised you I wouldn\u2019t be another human that failed you. \u00a0So on that horrible day in December, when\u00a0you gave us the signal you were ready to leave and even though we weren\u2019t, we honored you, your life and your decision and we let you go.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13058\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Gotcha.jpg\"><br \/>\n\t\t<span class=\"pibfi_pinterest \"><br \/>\n\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13058\" class=\"size-full wp-image-13058\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Gotcha.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Gotcha.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Gotcha-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"xc_pin\" onclick=\"pin_this(event, 'http:\/\/pinterest.com\/pin\/create\/button\/?url=https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/2021\/06\/14\/my-darling-delilah\/&amp;media=https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Gotcha.jpg&amp;description=My Darling Delilah')\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t<\/span><br \/>\n\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-13058\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">We were both exhausted that first day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Our journey was never an easy one. In the early years I couldn\u2019t take you off leash as you would run off. \u00a0You\u2019d find ways to escape the yard and go off exploring, ignoring our requests to come back. You ate EVERYTHING, chocolate, supplements, colored pencils, butter, pancake batter, corned beef (off the counter!), oil in the spaghetti pan, you even took a hot dog right from the pan on the stove! I used to joke the vet\u2019s office would take bets before answering the phone, to see what you\u2019d eaten that week.<\/p>\n<p>Delilah, you were the dog I never knew I wanted or needed. \u00a0You were wild, determined, stubborn. \u00a0You lived life to the fullest, did whatever the hell you wanted. \u00a0You challenged me, pushed me to the brink, frustrated the hell out of me. \u00a0But that process bonded us, it taught us to trust each other, to have faith in each other and yes, to love each other.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Hugs.jpg\"><br \/><span class=\"pibfi_pinterest \"><br \/>\n\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19862\" src=\"https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Hugs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Hugs.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Hugs-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"xc_pin\" onclick=\"pin_this(event, 'http:\/\/pinterest.com\/pin\/create\/button\/?url=https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/2021\/06\/14\/my-darling-delilah\/&amp;media=https:\/\/www.heartlikeadog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Hugs.jpg&amp;description=My Darling Delilah')\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t<\/span><br \/>\n\t\t<\/span><br \/>\n\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You taught us that sometimes, journeys aren\u2019t straight forward or easy, that sometimes the things we want aren\u2019t always what we think they are, but having faith and perseverance can bring us so much joy.<\/p>\n<p>I never thought your loss would be harder than Sampson\u2019s, yet here we are. \u00a0Six months later and my heart is still shattered. I miss you SO much, it\u2019s like an incredible ache in my heart. \u00a0I feel empty and lost. I feel like I\u2019m in a place of darkness and I can\u2019t find my way out.<\/p>\n<p>You were a dog that legends are made of and your legend lives on in this blog.
